Silver SLVR L6 vs Nokia 8801...

I'm kind of on the fence between the Silver SLVR L6 and the Nokia 8801.

It looks like the price dropped again for the 8801. I saw it in MWP for $375 US. When I first saw it on the street it was around $699 for an unlocked one and I was like "damn that is a hot phone". I guess the price is dropping though because the Sirocco is coming out soon.

As for the SLVR L7, I've always liked that phone, and just about the only reason I didn't get it is because I wound up getting the V3i first, but still I'm contemplating on getting a backup phone because I'm thinking of selling off one of my V3i's.

I thought about the L6 because it's so damn cheap and it could be SEEM edited for quadband, but the L7 has the microSD Slot and a better display and the availability of the silver color, which helps differentiate it form the Cingular black and pink L7s for about $65 more helped sway my decision towards the top with the L7 over the L6.

I probably would get both if not for the fact that the K790a is already out and I'm most defintitely going to get that one when the pricing becomes more competitive.

So anyway back to the main question. Which is, in your opinion is a better phone in terms of looks, functionality, performance, status, etc.? The Motorola SLVR L7 or the Nokia 8801 and why? I already have an idea but I just wanted to hear everone else's opinions.
 
I would probably get an 8801...

...my one, make that two, gripes about the phone are the reported battery life, and lack of a memory card slot. The L7 has a microSD slot, so, you get the option to add more movies/music to your phone.

8801 looks much better, and, quite frankly, the way the screen slides up is very cool.

Everyone has a slvr. You will probably not run into someone on the street who has an 8801.
 
Yeah, the 8801 looks pretty damn good, even with the lack of memory and the weak battery life. The price is getting a little better though, but not nearly as inexpensive as the SLVR.

It's about $200 more, but if I want to have a relatively unique lineup then I have to be willing to pay the price. I guess I'll have to think about it a little more...
 
Why not wait for the Sirocco (sp?) version to come out?
I haven't though about owning an 8800/8801 for more than 5 seconds at a time but I'm probably gonna end up buying the Sirocco version as soon as the price settles ..
 
I'm seriously considering the Sirocco as a potential phone, but I'm not going to buy it at the opening price because it's going to launch around $1,200.00 US. It's not rediculously priced like a Vertu or a Limited D&G RAZR, but it is still up there.

The current 8801's price is still pretty steep as well, considering it's lack of features like a memory slot. The only reason I'm even thinking of getting one is because of the recent price drops.

Well that and it still looks great and it is still relatively unique even if T-Mobile US recently added it to its lineup, it still has a premium price that will deter most casual buyers from getting one like they would say a RAZR phone.
 
OK, I bit the bullet and ordered the 8801. After finding out that the 8800 Sirocco does NOT have a memory slot (just updated shared memory from 64MB to 128MB), since I already have 3 Moto phones (V3, V3i and D&G2 V3i) and considering the price (w/ 2 day shipping) for an unlocked 8801 has dropped lower than a T-Mobile Locked 8801 (w/ contract). It was pretty much a no-brainer for me. =p
