Silent Hill

Wow, using actual Music from the game, looks a lot like the first Silent Hill, i can even remember the scenes in the Trailor from the game, difference is the game had a guy in it as the main character. Looks good if you ask me, maybe this could actually be a good video game movie?

I thought the 'teaser trailer' on the official movies' website looked good, but this trailer makes me want to see the film more than ever! I agree in that it looks true to the games, I only hope it really is as scary!

Pontentially, if the games are anything to go by, the Silent Hill movie could be very scary indeed and I'm glad they are using the same music for the film from the games. This could be a surprise hit when it comes out.

What made the game so scary(?) for me was that you'd play it for hours and the atmosphere would imprint itself on your subconscious.
I don't think a film can do that, unless it's something like Apocalypse Now!

The trailer looked good, great production values, but it also seemed... formulaic.
Hope it's good.

I've only played Silent Hill 4: The Room, so that's my only experience so far with the series, but I really hope they don't screw this one up.. most game to movie adaptations are usually pretty.. well, disappointing.. so I hope they've done a good job with this one!

I'm sceptical, even after seeing the trailer, but that's probably because it was pretty bad quality... I couldn't make out quite a lot of things in it, but I guess that's all part of the suspense

Silent Hill 2 is definatly one of my favourite games of all time (only surpassed with games I played when I was a kid - stuff like Sonic the Hedgehog, Mario World etc)...it's definatly my fave game on the PS2. The film looks very awesome - hope its not another Resident Evil though :(

I'm pretty glad about the music from the games, that's a genius idea. They just need to stick to the atmospheric horror of the games and don't go down the 'braindead action-fest' route like Resident Evil did and it should be fine.

It's already got a heaRABtart by not having Uwe Boll at the reigns.

omg silent hill rocks lol its so scary because the atmosphere is so dark and low, i hope its as scary as the game but it would take some god damn skilled directing. i was looking forward to the resident evil films but personally it lacked some thing even though it was quite good

wow the trailer looks good. I am a fan of the games too. the silent hill music played a big part in the acutal ps2 games, so i really hope the film score matches up to that of the game.

i see theyve put a woman in the lead rather than a male character, i expect they think it would be more popular - and was that sean bean i spotted there too lol!! :)

am interested to see how they translate a game into a film, and how they deal with all the "exploring" thats done in the nether-silent hill world - it could end up being boring. Mind you, the trailer does look promising so i cannot wait to see it.

It was released in 2003 and I think is now out of print/stock.
Anyone seen it?

i must admit I am one of the one's who have known for over a year of the movie and have been counting down the days to the release. I love silent hill games and resident evil as well and am really looking forward to this!. I hope we won't be disapointed. less than a month to go :).

I (THINK) This film will follow the game from scene to scene (hope so anyway) unlike a few game movies that add different bits etc. but i think this will be exactly like the game.

Resident Evil: Extinction is its working title. Quite like the name so I wouldn't mind if they kept it like that.

Its down for a 2007 release in the US, but theres no official date yet.

Not sure when production begins.

Silent Hill looks like it could be a fantastic movie :D

As a massive fan of the Silent Hill games (SH2 is definitely in my all time top 3) I'd say that Silent Hill is a far better bet for a movie with its settings, psychological aspect and back story than Resi ever was.

Having said that I can't imagine how the movie can ever capture the true horror of the games. If I think of certain moments (the hospital in SH1 when that siren goes off  the museum/prison in SH2 or the underground station in SH3 come to mind) I can't imagine being more unnerved, disorientated and just plain lonely. What makes it work though is the fact that you're the one in control (well, within the parameters of the game anyway) and if you don't go through the next door no-one else is going to.

With a movie someone else (i.e. the director) is totally in control of what happens when which for me means that the film could never quite affect you like playing the games does.

Having said that I think it could work if they focus on the psychological aspects and play down the combat. I'm thinking particularly of 'Born from a wish' the added scenario on the director's cut of SH2 which had virtually no combat and played almost as a mini-movie in itself. I found that totally haunting and disturbing in a different type of way, I'm still drawn back to play it through on a regular basis.
