Sigourney Weaver has revealed that a 5th Alien movie is in the works, but she said she will not be in it.

What do you think will happen in the new movie, and do you think the franchise will be as sucessful without her in it?

I probably wouldn't like the new movie if she was in it as the half Alien half Human she was in Alien Resurrection. One of the films biggest downfalls was that fact...

Can't we just have her waking up in the shower, with Alien 3 and 4 being a big dream? The still alive cast members from 3 and 4 can have cameos for trivia purposes!

Padzter :D

Well considering how dire AVP was, I should think that the series would go downhill fast - but then again...Alien4...say no more ;) ...

I seem to remember that she did this last time around. It's a standard money making tactic - she knows that she's the star of the saga, and is integral to the movies (I'd bet that 90% of the scripts thrown around for Alien 5 feature an 'Ellen Ripley' in them ;)) It's reverse psychology in motion as far as I'm concerned.

sounRAB like a politician asked about re-election doesn't it ;) :D

I'm not sure that she is the star. She's definately the leading actress but I think that the Alien is the star. Without the Alien we wouldn't have any film - without Sigourney/Ripley we would still have the same film.

When you consider the amount of screen time that the alien had in the original theatrical cut of the first film, I would say that I disagree. However, taking the whole saga into account, I'd say that there was equally a case for the alien(s) being the ones in charge...

In fact, that'd be an interesting one - if two equally worthy scripts came up, one with new aliens but with Sigourney in and the other with traditional aliens and no Signourney - which one would they go with?

Wasn't Ridley Scott going to be involved with 'Alien 5' in some capacity? Despite the universal panning AVP got, going straight in at number One in the US Box Office with $37 million in a weekend would be seen as a success rather than failure so another stab at the Alien franchise could happen, just pray that P.W.S. Anderson doesn't get involved. I'd love to see the Dark Horse graphic novel 'Genocide' put to film, or better still 'Hive', the thought of a genetically engineered Alien playing with a labrador dog would be a very bizzarre sight.
