Signing up for HD

Is it really necessary to pay 100 to sign up for HD? Only to have them credit your account. Any way around this?

Whenever I do this I charge the HomePhone account the $100 and then the TV account will get a $100 credit...generally all on the same bill.

No way round it that I am aware of.

This is ONLY for Rental of HD, if you purchase the HD receiver this will not apply.

I recently signed on to HD again already being a Bell tv subscriber. I also rented a receiver and was told the $100 charge would be preapproved I guess is the term but that it would not actually be charged to mt credit card, and believe it or not it never was.

If you buy you don't have to pay the 100$

The 100$ is for the rental certificate

Unless things changed in the last year for existing clients that 100$ has to be charged on a credit card and will be refunded on the first BellTV bill after you activated the unit. They can not be put that charge on your one bill or BellTV bill (as I said, rules might have changed) they only do that when you originally open the account.

I do not have any CC, got rid of them years ago, which brings on this problem.. And I rather not throw 100$ out that I do not need to. Leaning more towards going to cable, since there are no crap ass pay this and we will put it back on your bill for you.

You can go to a store and buy one -- then call back CS to book an installation date.

I believe the crap ass charges are done because they are giving you a few hundred dollar receiver, for a monthly charge. To ensure that receivers aren't rented and then "disappear" they have to do this. It's not the end of the world, as it's only $100... That will be credited back to your account. Look at it this way, you will be paying your Bell bill 1 month early, as the following month you will get a $100 credit.

I went threw this credit card thing when when I started with Expressvu as to whether it's a good idea to give your credit card up to someone for "ID". I never did.

I did not say the CC was for ID.

The CC should be the same one used when the order was placed, the photo ID has to be the person home at the time of installation. If they are NOT the same person, then a letter of authority, giving the person the power to sign on behalf of the CC holder must be there as well, already signed and dated.

I don't want my credit card in the hands of of a third party and they agreed. I would imagine Bell to be like any large company there are rules and procedures but they are not cast in stone. Anyway my personal experience is these offers can be put on your TV bill and then a credit applied or put on your Bell phone bill. No credit card involved.

Exactly, it isn't the end of the world and since the minimum programming package is over $30 it works out to paying a month to 2 months in advance.

You of course have the option of simply going out and buying the receiver yourself instead.

Even when I do this for a customer a credit card or banking information is required before the processing of a Nimiq2 upgrade.

I always thought it was because they'll charge you the installation fee if you don't activate your rental unit within 60 days.

Well all I can say is I'm happy it was not up to you to process my order that day.

For a hoot, I called today to get rid of the movies channels, and asked about upgrading my PVR to the 9242. She booked me an install date, then asked me for my CC, I asked why like I had no clue, and she informed me along the same lines, that I would not be charged. I then informed her I think CC's are evil and do not have one. She put me on hold for a minute and came back to confirm the date. And away we go..

Just an update, install was today, never asked for a CC.. Installer name is not on the order form.. He was great.. Very professional.. Now if I could actually load the bell site to set up some programming..
