SID's

Just have a question about SID's.

The SID for my market is 4857, and the verizon SID is 179 in my market. Whenever I flash a verizon phone i NEVER change it, it's still 179 but I have no problems out of it.

By me not changing it does it mess up some features of a phone or do I have nothing to worry about?

Thanks.

when you *228 it should update the SID. once the PRL is loaded i believe thats all you need to *228 and the SID should update then.

Ah, well half the time I don't *228 because I've already changed the MDN and MIN to what they need to be.

but it still works

I was just wondering about it to see if it crippled the MMS or Wap or anything if you dind't change it.

it is possible, although unlikely, that an incorrect SID could interfere with signal aquisition. However, I used to, rarely, see this problem on Sprint, and have never encountered a problem on cricket.
Also, depending on your PRL version, the phone may think it is roaming if the SID is incorrectly set.

To most hanRABets the Home SID doesn't matter much anymore as the PRL overrides it anyways. As long as you have the correct PRL loaded you don't need to worry about the Home SID.

When ever mine is not the cricket sid I change it just because I dont ewant to risk anything....but I never tried it with the wrong sid..
