SI Joint Pain - Had injection into Gluteus Max Muscle Yesterday

I have been plagued by SI joint dysfunction and Piriformis Syndrome. Yesterday I went in for a Piriformis muscle injection and when I told my PM doctor that I wanted to show him the area of my WORST pain, he burrowed his finger into the trigger point of my Gluteus Maximus muscle (so he told me). So, he put the injection there instead. Has anyone every heard of such a thing? And I am so sore tonight. I am on ice as I type this. Because I am a type I diabetic he only used a tad of cortisone in the injection (20 mg)and instead used Toredol, and I personally think they forgot to put the cortisone in the syringe because I am so sore. I am thinking of some PT to deal with this issue perhaps. It is apparently a pain syndrome like Piriformis syndrome. Any worRAB of advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Could you be a bit more specific? I wasn't clear what you meant by "this issue."

I had a fusion at L4-5 in Jan. and have recently been working with a PT who only works with spinal patients. She also has additional training in pelvic floor dysfunction. Many spinal specialists are beginning to see the connection between weak pelvic floor muscles, and lower back pain. As you probably know, the causes of SI joint pain and lower back pain are often confused.

If you have ever been pregnant or have reason to believe your pelvic floor muscles are weaker than they should be, you might want to work on this area, too, when you see a physical therapist.

I realize I'm not addressing your question, but you never know when some little piece of the puzzle is going to help!!

Generally PT can help quite a lot with SI joint problems.

Old thread, but Caligirl, what happened over the last year?? For the last 9 months my butt muscles really get sore from time to time. Now the left butt muscle just throbs, especially when I'm sitting and driving.
