the trailer for this movie was really cool. I am looking forward to seeing this film. I had no idea it's also a book until reading this thread.

I was going to read the book but then I found out they were going to make a movie of it, so I just decided to wait. (I know I know! But i have so many books in line already)

I can't wait for this tho, just my kind of movie :)

Hmm...that's a good question. I might have had someone in mind after I'd re-read the book, but I'm blanking, atm. It was really Rachel Solando I was more interested in [character wise, in the book], and I thought Mischa Barton would have been amazing in that role. I knew she'd never do it though, given it's a Blockbuster, and she mostly sticks to Indies. But still, the character is right up her alley...very dark/gritty.

Oh, okay. Yep, that's the scene I was referring to. :) When I read it, I had Mischa Barton in mind, and I still do. I think she'd knock that scene, specifically, out of the park.

Yeah, he wrote that as well. He's a fantastic writer.

She's the main one I don't think was the best casting choice at all. :/ But then again, that's just my opinion. :look:

Yup, that's the scene. ;) [sp] Rachel was found again, and Teddy came to interview her. She began calling him 'Jim', her husband, and Teddy played along with it. Yeah, he was getting a bit turned on by her. And then she started going crazy, screaming at him that he was going to rape her. [/sp]

I've watched Mystic River before. It was really good, from what I can remember. I haven't read the book though. Dennis Lehane wrote it, right? I might check it out.

Yeah, i dont think its horror but a Mystery thriller - the trailer is awesome, after My Sister's Keeper this one will be a movie i will look forward to

I dont mind what it is really, its got Leo its good enough for me and Martin made the movie

Just as long as it's NOT horror, I'm good. The book wasn't horror though. So I was hoping the movie wouldn't be either. It's definitely a thriller, which I love.

I've watched it a few times already, lol. It really does look AMAZING! Gah, I can't wait! :blinkie:

I highly recommend the book. It's amazing. It's one of those mind-**** kind of books.

I think Leo and Mark were excellent casting choices. Some others were okay, but there's some, I just don't see at all. :/

I'm referring to the scene in the room where Rachel's being kinda seductive, or at least, Teddy is aroused by her. Is that the same scene? It's been a few months since I've read it, lol.

Yeah...and I was really rooting for an Oscar nom for Leo and Mark. :irked:

As good as the movie looks, I'm sure the book will be way better. However, it might be equal, for me, since the reason I followed this when I found out it was being turned into a movie, was due to who wrote the book - and Mystic River is a rare movie adaptation for me, which is just as good as the book. And then of course the two leads just made my day.

Yeah, Michelle might surprise us. We'll just have to see.

I loved that scene [sp] between Rachel and Teddy! You're talking about the scene when Rachel is 'found' again, right? And Rachel and Teddy have a 'heart-to-heart' of sorts. It was downright intense, crazy, and creepy! Loved it. I think Emily Mortimer can pull it off.[/sp]

I'm also looking forward to seeing [sp] that final scene between 'Teddy' and Dolores. So heartbreaking! :([/sp] I hope they don't cut out too much of the book's events.

Grr, it doesn't make any sense to move the release date. I would think it'd do better during October, close to Halloween, since the trailer is marketing it as a horror movie, kind of.

Definitely read it! It's really good, and even though the trailer looks pretty awesome, I still think the book's going to be better than the movie.
