I don't ever remember being problematic in public places. I might have whined every once in a while, but if I got too out of hand, my mom would snatch me up, take me outside, and swat me on the bottom and everything was good.

I think parents need to learn to be more firm with their children. Of course, they're kids. They're going to be a handful, but there is no sense in them making messes at resturaunts and generally causing chaos.
 
Actually I was reading an article on child discipline to kids that throw hissy fits to get their way. DG is exactly right! This is what they are supposed to do. If your child is misbehaving, simply leave. The child eventually learns that not only did they not get what they want but they are no longer getting the freedoms the had....such as being out with happy parents. Unhappy parents means you don't get what you want....breathing optional.

Not to sound crude but kids are like dogs, they get positive reinforcements for what they do correctly and get nothing for what they don't do correctly. So think about it this way. they'd rather get stuff and have a happy parent then a disapointed parent and less than what they wanted.
 
I agree..I've had CSD called on me three times...once because my ex-husband spanked the boys outside in the front yard, once because I spanked them in the front yard, and once because my daughter told her step grandma that we have no food in the house

We have food, its just not junk food. Its food you have to cook. She was just upset because grandma always has junk food.....sorry, I cook good food for my kids I don't let them eat shit. If they need cookies, fine, but lets make them instead of buying food so full of perservatives you can't even taste the food!

PS: When we were kids and acted up in the restaurant, dad would take us outside, pull the car up to the window and make us watch everyone else eat. and he would not eat either. He would just look at you--and that was enough for me!
 
yeah DG, it's getting ridiculous. If I acted up in a restaurant, my mom would take my food away and i'd have to watch the rest of the family enjoy their meal. If i made a fuss during that, i could be sure i'd get a spanking when they were done. I was pretty well mannered in public heheh.
