Shuffle! talkback. *Offensive/56k/spoilers*

This is based on an H game from Navel. Actually, Shuffle! was Navel's first game. It's much more of a comedy/romance with sex as a bonus, than just sex for the hell of it.

As such, the anime takes that route too. I suggest you check it out, as cliched as it may be.

I saw the Prologue for this as well as read the article about it in July's Newtype USA. The Prologue was funny enough to get me to watch at least a few episodes. The most amusing parts were Lisianthus hitting her father with a chair and Rin being called a petaphile for looking at this young girl, who proceeded to jump all over him.

This and 'Second Raid' are the only shows of Summer season I have any interest in checking out.

While Shuffle might be something most of us would watch, there's just one complaint:

What is it with animeka or mangak putting elf ears on characters and pass them off as demons? Can't they just put some scars, or bodypaint, or warts or any other blemishes on their faces & bodies? Hell can't they just be more IMAGINATIVE within their chosen character designs? I don't mind cute anime demons, but please, be more creative with the designs! The elvish character designs of the Jak games are far more ahead of Shuffle's character designs, as well the elf eared "demons" of Gensomaden Saiyuki and so on.

Stuff like this are getting pandemic in mainstream anime.

But anyway, I might watch this just for sweet, cute romance stuff.

The best part was that part with the glasses guy trying to huggle Keren only to get Rin and then get a 10 ton puch to his gut. That was funny.

Oh, and the "era of g and f cup" thing too, that got a coupla laughs too.

Oh, and how the king of the goRAB looked more like the exact sort of a demon king and vice versa, I thought that was cleaver.

I was just introduced to this series when a friend of mine reccomended it to me this weekend. I told him I wasn't interested in another Harem series that seems to go nowhere, until he stated, 'imagine if you took a harem series normal hijinks but interwined some of the more dramatic tones of Onegai Teacher, wouldn't you want to see that?'

That made me curious. So, I watched episodes 1-23 in a course of two days. The characters were enjoyable, even though Sia is a tad annoying at times and the chair bit seemed to get old a tad quickly as well. Overall, it was pretty fun at the begining, but I still didn't see some of that 'dramatic' stuff he had metioned. I reminded myself to bop my friend in the head the next time I saw him... until the history of Primula started to unfold. I was hooked. The next arc concerning Kadae's past was far from comedic and in truth a tad bit chilling. Then's it into Asa's bit, which is where I'm currently at, and we learn a lot about her and her mother's past. I'm begining to think all of the main chracters had some sort of tragedies in thier past.

Though this is a harem show and has a lot of comedic elements, which some are really funny, and has some fanservice moments, I am enjoying the drama aspect more. This will be a definite buy if it comes stateside. I could state who my favorite characters are, but I won't. An interesting tidbit, pay attention to ths sensei's history lectures, they have relevance to some of the charcater's pasts.

Damn him for being right.

This show wasn't too bad. I enjoyed the comedic episodes a lot more than the serious ones. My favorite was the one where Rin takes Asa on a date to an amusement park. The problem with the dramatic episodes is that nothing is ever really resolved. At the show's conclusion everyone is saying, "you've chosen a girlfriend but not a bride." So, everything enRAB how it started except for Rin dating but there's no guarantee that it will last. Which, I guess, might have been the point. High school relationships seem serious at the time, but most of them just turn out to be puppy love. Still, it would have been nice had their been more closure. Like maybe they could have introduced more male characters and hinted that perhaps in the future the other girls would date them.

By the way, has anyone seen Shuffle Memories? It's supposed to include more details into the character's backstory.

...Actually, Memories is just an abridged version of the original series with one new episode at the end... And this one episode was apparently also just a completely pointless fanservice-episode. In other worRAB, 12 out of its 13 episodes are 100% pointless, and the last one is also rather unnecessary, but at least it might be somewhat entertaining... ("MIGHT be" because I actually haven't watched it myself. I ignored it due to knowing what I just mentioned.)

Shuffle's existence is offensive to decent Demons & Dieties Everywhere, seriously though.....I find it offensive because its yet another genaric harem series where the only diffrence in the characters is there hair colors& Style, having diffrent hair doesn't make you a diffrent person! Not to mention its based off of an H-game, wich makes it even worse...Seriously....As much as I love Anime, theres just aspects of it that make me question the sanity of the people in the business.

That is alll, & Im sorry if offended anyone with my rant.

Uh... have you even SEEN the show, or are you just basing your criticism off of the pictures? The characters are plenty different from each other, and not just because of their hair colors.

Heh, I remeraber seeing a bunch of artwork for this series a few years back and just thinking, "Wow, their hair makes them look like human Skittles." Because you can't have your own identity in an anime without your own hair color.

Actually yes, I saw as much as I could put up with..I watched the 1st 6 episodes, but found the series so genaric I could'nt stand to watch anymore...

But then again its my own fault for always listening to my frienRAB suggestions. (Also who bumped this thread the 1st few posts are from 2005?)

but yea, I Prefere Harem series where the characters Designs & personalities vary, you know, Like the Ken Akamatsu stuff, or The Manga version of Rosario+Vampire, but thats just My Personal Openion. Nuff Said.
