Shows You're Surprised Were Made

Now, I don't mean "surprised" like the offensiveness surprised. I mean surprised like, where you can't believe someone went to a studio, pitched that idea, and it got accepted.

Well, I can't believe Loonatics or Tak: The Power of JuJu got made.

I mean, who said "Lets make spin-off extreme versions of the Looney Tunes!" and who agreed to it?

And Tak just seemed like one of the Nick employees was a big fan and so badly wanted to see it turned into a show.

i understand the intentions, regardless i'm still amazed at how networks could actually air cartoons like "mark kate and ashley in action"(hey it's the oldsen twins as globe trekking super-spies. sure why not?? and next season we can start on 'candice cameron in space!') or 'chuck norris and the karate kommandos"...i mean, in chuck norris you had a freakin alligator wearing a parachute and flying into the window of a building where chuck has to wrestle him as everyone else backs off....it's hilarious campy fun to watch today, but man...how did execs actually look at this stuff and give it all the green light...i guess the old 'hey who cares they're just dumb kids they'll watch anything and buy all the toys' mentality.

Captain N: The Game Master
- Okay, so they didn't have much to work with back in the day, but I really do not see why this show is so popular or why it had to be greenlit. But maybe that's the anal Nintendo fan in me speaking. (And it's PIT, not Kid Icarus, but again, they didn't know back n the day)

Life With Louie
- Or any celebrity-based cartoon show, for that matter.

Not that I hated the show, but I always wondered why they green-lighted the cartoon that got third place, instead of the one that got second place.

I would have to say 101 Dalmations. That movie was from the '60's, why did they all of a sudden made a series in the '90's?

Yeah I checked Wikipedia and it says it was on Disney's One Saturday Morning and cancelled due to poor ratings.

Why am I not surprised at the outcome?

Yeah, I remember kinda remember watching it when I was younger (don't judge me ). It was amusing, but now that I look back...I'm not sure. I actually enjoyed it.

Probably because of the success of the 1996 live-action 101 Dalmatians movie starring Glenn Close, which sparked a renewed interest in the animated feature.

Pretty much any celebrity based cartoon. I mean, who at NBC said "Hey, Rick Moranis is really popular with the kids, let's give him an animated series!"

Seriously, Rick Moranis in Gravedale High? Camp Candy? Pro-Stars?

Given the overall success of the Harry Potter franchise, I very much doubt that a HP TV show would bomb. A lot of people would tune in just because it was Harry Potter. Such a series would have to be very poorly handled in order for it to meet that fate. I don't think that a Harry Potter TV series would have any trouble finding an audience if it were to be made, but the thing is that a Harry Potter series will probably never happen because the saga has already been mapped out in the books and the movies, and due the fact that each new book was a new school year at Hogwarts. A HP animated series would have to take place sometime between the books and movies or else just be a separate, unrelated continuity from the books and films in order to work.

Ummm, how about ANY show on adult swim (especially Assy McGee, ATHF, and Metalocalypse). Not in a million years could I have thought up cartoons quite like some of the stuff AS has/has had.
