shows you used to love as a kid, but now think"that was dumb, whyd i like such crap"

I don't think I really watched He-Man when I was younger (I know I was bigger on She-Ra), but just a few years ago I watched the He-Man/She-Ra movie with some friends. We spent the whole time giggling and making uncalled for jokes ;) Just couldn't take it seriously.
 
Pokemon..I mean, I'll still watch the Indigo Leauge episodes, because that's what I would tune in every day to watch on UPN just before I left for school in the morning, but by the time Johto started rolling around it got stale, because basically it was the same concept. The new voices and 3D effects in the new season turned me off completely.

Digimon was alright, but yeah..I don't like the revolving cast every season. I liked the first two seasons, but that's it. Doubt I would even watch the first two anyway now.
 
Same here, my friend. I find Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry much more funny than what Master Moron described (Haven't seen the episode in question, nor do I want to).
 
Based on what you're saying here, I'm getting the impression that you think that Digimon is a rip-off attempt at Pokemon. That is completely wrong. The only things that Digimon and Pokemon have in common are that both series are a mon show and they deal with children interacting and connecting with monsters. That is it. While I understand that joke of yours, the reason why there are many digivolutions is that almost every Digimon series does not connect with each other, the only exceptions are Adventure 01 and Adventure 02, and so they have different digivolution lines. That's most obviously in Data Squad.

Just so you know, Augumon has only appeared in the Adventures and Data Squad/Savers universes and since he's a main Digimon again in a completely different series, it would be a lot more interesting to see Augumon with different digivolutions than to see the same ones all over again.



That's interesting, to say the least. I'm especially surprised of what you have to say about Bugs Bunny since to this day he's the opposite of everything you described him to me. I'm also interested in any further explanations you have for your dislike of both the Tom and Jerry show and the character of Bugs Bunny.

Anyway, the only show that comes to my mind is Timon and Pumba. I remember loving it when I was little and I was a huge Lion King fan back in the day. But when I watched some of the episodes when it got a slot on Disney channel, it didn't feel like the same show to me. It felt much better if Simba or any of the other characters from the movie was in an episode, but it felt much weaker to me when it was just Timon and Pumba. The show just didn't have that same spark of interest to me now as it did back in the past.

I don't advocate the portrayal of realistic violence in the name of "humor".
There is a fine line between slapstick and realistic violence (one that even the old theatrical cartoons would sometimes trip over). I don't like humor that looks especially cruel, there are even moments in old Bugs Bunny cartoons that make me cringe now (seeing Daffy Duck get repeatedly shot in the face, for example). Maybe I'm getting to be too old for cartoons.
 
Well, if you think that's bad, then you should see some of the rape jokes they've done. Family Guy simply pushes the envelope as far as it can go. I can't believe some of the stuff they've gotten away with. But, I find the outrageousness of it just makes it more funny.

I actually find it the ultimate sign of equality, that both men and women are equally brutalized in animation. There were very few Looney Tunes characters who were female. I imagine this was partially because women used to be seen as fragile and weak. Now women can be on the receiving end of a beating just as often as men can. It's a sign that people no longer view women as fragile and weak.
 
I used to hate Bugs Bunny for a while there when I was a kid because I loved Daffy, and hated to see Bugs get the best of him all the time and get all the glory. But then, I grew up and looked at the Daffy/Bugs love/hate thing differently, and find myself loving Bugs while being disappointed with Daffy.

I much prefer the original insane Daffy who poor Porky had to put up with all the time, before Daffy became egotistical and a rival to Bugs.

As for Tom and Jerry, I've always hated those cartoons....ever since I was a kid. They just never seemed funny to me, and growing up hasn't changed my opinion.

About Digimon vs Pokemon. I agree that Digimon was (and to me, still is) the better show. In fact, didn't Digimon come out first? (That's what I remember hearing anyway).
 
Power Rangers-Okay, it probably doesn't count but still, I can't believe I used to watch it. I stopped watching it either after Wild Force or halfway through Ninja Storm, I can't remember.

Rocket Power-I liked this show for some reason when I was a kid. But looking back after seeing clips and listening to the theme song I just went "...What is this? This is horrible, I used to like this?"

Tom & Jerry-Like with the previous poster. As a kid, I never understood why do people like these cartoon shorts so much. I mean, it's still not funny to me but if I wanted to see animals kick the crud of each other, I would watch Watership Down.

Hanna-Barbara Shows-I never cared for Hanna-Barbara anyway for various reason. And yes, I also never understood why people like characters such as Yogi Bear, Doggie Dog, etc. I do however like the John K shorts despite my dislike of the guy's personality.

For me it's doug (there I said it). I enjoyed it when I was little. I woke up during the nicksgiving marathon to catch my old shows. I watched dough and just thought "what the heck is this!?"
 
DBZ is your usual 200+ep. Shonen Jump anime that centers around a bunch of arrogant, whiny, hyperactive, uber-powerful, scatterbrained, spiky-haired punks and also lacks a real plot and character development! The dub made it even worse than it already is! Ugh, I can't believe I used to watch this garbage, when Toonami was still airing on weekdays! The original Dragonball anime was better, because it was actually about finding 7 mystical balls called the Dragonballs and it also had some actual degree of character development, unlike DBZ and DBGT:shrug: !
 
That Beetlejuice cartoon.

I do not remember that cartoon being built off of puns. Not at all. Like, how could that memory escape me, that's all the show was. Weird.

I remember absolutely loving Tiny Toons, but I'm not that big of a fan anymore. I'm more of a Freakazoid type of person among the Spielburg cartoons.

I just thought that was the greatest. My poor dad, he'd work hard all week for us, then at the crack of dawn on Saturday I'd drag him out of bed to watch it with me because I knew he wouldn't want to miss it.

No wonder he doesn't care for animation to this day.
 
Just for the record, Simba (the adult Simba) did appear in a couple of the early CBS episodes of Timon & Puumba. And Rafiki and the Laughing Hyenas each has recurring segments on the show.
