Shows where a secondary character has become more popular than the Star???

I never knew she was in this, I remember the show from when I was younger on Channel 4, LOVE Christine. Will need to keep an eye out for any repeats that may air of the show.

Summer (and also Julie) definitely spring to mind, from the OC, both originally guest characters, finishing as very popular main characters.

I can't really think of many, probably because most of what I watch are ensemble shows, where it would be unfair to initially call the character secondary.

In the case of The IT Crowd, Moss and Roy were the main characters and Jen was the normal one although as the series has gone on, she's turned out to be as nuts as the two of them.

Douglas has definetly seen his role increased although admitfully he's has some cracking lines and scenes.

Birds of a Feather - Although Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson were the original main characters, Lesley Joseph (Dorien) soon stole the show - and became as important as the other two.

This used to happen for me on my home PC. I complained to DS about this for literally YEARS (I sent them screenshots from various browsers), but in the end I had to install ad-blocking software!

Gavin & Stacey: Maybe it's just me, but I've always thought Nessa (Ruth Jones), Smithy (James Corden), Uncle Bryn (Rob Brydon), Mick (Larry Lamb) and Pamela (Alison Steadman) were all bigger characters than the title leads (Matthew Horne & Joanna Page). Certainly in the final series, Nessa and Smithy were the main characters.

Sir Harry Pearce in spooks, first couple of episodes he only had a few lines and a bit part, now i would say most people think Sir Harry Pearce is Spooks and the day he leaves or gets killed off is the end of spooks!

Frasier - Niles stole every scene he was in.

Torchwood - Jack and Gwen were the main characters, but a lot of the fanbase preferred Ianto Jones, and held a massive 'Save Ianto' campaign after he was killed off.

Randy Marsh in South Park has become a very central character in more recent series and fans love him.

RE Alan Partridge, I always considered him the weakest part of The Day Today, I'd go make a cup of tea during his parts
