Shows that DO still hold up, in your mind

Sorry, I meant show, I did not mean to insult it by any means. It is disputably and most likely undoubtedly one of the best cartoon shows of all-time, and I am not the only one who thinks so.

Looneytunes/Disneytoons

Gargoyles still holds up fantastically. The animation, writing & voice acting are still among the best of any tv animated series before or since.

Tiny Toon Adventures If anything, it's better than I remember it, now that I get more of the jokes :)

Ducktales As stated by other people, this is pretty much as I remember it. Very fun and creative with an incredibly catchy OP theme.

Muppet Babies Like Tiny Toons, as I age I come to get and appreciate more of the jokes. The later seasons are rather lame I admit, but the early stuff is gold!

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers - Really, my only problem is the sheer number of Dale-focused episodes...and the episode "An Elephant Never Suspects", which has some of the most horrendous animation I've seen on TV.

Tale Spin: Another one I think aged well, it just couldn't reach its full potential. Still, good times, good times.

The Care Bears: Still adorable and surprisingly hilarious after all these years.

The Real Ghostbusters: What everyone else said.

Really?

I mean I love the show, but it's dated really badly. I do see it as a sort of charm though, seeing as the show takes place in the 90s, it makes sense in context.

The Orson Welles jokes never get old.

I'd go with:
1. The Real Ghostbusters: The early seasons as mentioned by some, have exceptional writing compared to most SATAM toons.

2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: It's still as humorous as it was when I watched it as a kid.

Though to be honest, when watching any old favorites again for the first time, I watch them with low expectations. So, while I can understand that most of the older cartoons lack quality, I'm not really turned off by them.

It was really more than just recycled gags and dialog. Almost all Rita and Runt, Chicken Boo and Katie Ka-Boom cartoons are the exact same thing over and over again. And as great as Pinky and the Brain usually were, their cartoons were the textbook example of cartoons that repeated the same formula all the time.

It was always a crapshoot going into Animaniacs. Which characters would we encounter today? But usually once once we discovered which characters we were getting we were usually offered nothing new. Again this is especially true of Rita and Runt, Katie Ka-Boom, Chicken Boo and Pinky and the Brain. Even though Tiny Toons used the same integrated cast of characters the storylines more than made up for it.

Additionally, Tiny Toons got better as time went on. Animaniacs just got worse and worse. I enjoy the best of Animaniacs but I think as time goes on the show is very slowly going to fall out of favor as more and more people start to see it's faults.

The problem with this show is that (with only a few later exceptions) only the first dozen or so episodes were animated in Japan, which was much different than Ducktales, which used TMS far more in the first season. This meant that the majority of the Rescue Rangers episodes feature bland and sometimes absolutely horrible animation. So unless you really enjoyed the characters, the sped-up voices and the repetitive stock music, the show didn't have much repeat appeal.

Talespin, on the other hand, had likable characters, intelligent plots, fantastic music, a really well thought out premise and universe and usually very strong animation. It holds up very well today.
