Shows that could air on both CN and AS?

It could work out that Naruto could continue to air on Toonami, and through adult swim maybe uncut versions of Naruto and possibly Naruto Shippuden could air. Shippuden could make a great addition to Adult Swim's anime. Although I am not sure how long they would wait to release shippuden, but I doubt it would be very long since Shippuden has already hit the manga and Shonen Jump.

Does violence necessarily equal "adult entertainment"? Toonami focuses on action and it's not aimed at the same audience as Adult Swim. Also, when you say "spiritual storytelling" what do you mean by that and how does that make it right for Adult Swim?

Shippuden would be good for Adult Swim but wouldn't that technically be abandoning the younger viewers who watch Naruto? Sure they could always watch Adult Swim but most (good) parents wouldn't let them watch it.

To answer your first question, shows like Bleach and Death Note, uses the supernatural as part of the show.

As for airing Sippuden on Adult Swim without alienating the younger viewers. Simple air it twice, on Toonami and Adult Swim. Several shows from Cartoon Network's Action Dynomite block, also air a replay on Toonami.

I was thinking about that as I wrote my comment. I wasn't sure whether to mention the fact that Shippuden really isn't really violent enough to be put only on Adult Swim. It could be aired on both Toonami and Adult Swim like zoombie said. Except on the Adult swim version mature jokes such as Sai's rather "vulgar" insults to Naruto won't be edited like they would be on Toonami's version.

I disagree. Naruto may have a sufficient amount of fantasy violence, but Naruto is still first and foremost, a kids' cartoon. Overall, despite the violence and the occasional on air mention of death, Naruto's content isn't "adult" enough for the show to air on [adult swim].

If anything, I seriously doubt we'll see any crossover between CN and AS anymore. It seems like CN is intentionally skewing much younger now with it's programing-more to the 8-10 year old audience. They've eliminated all classsic cartoons, toonami is a non-entity, and the shows they do air hardly have the same cross-over appeal. Additionally, both networks have taken steps now to really show they are independent from one another. CN has started airing the "Goodnight see you tomorrow" commercial everynight at 10:59. Officially CN only programs from 6 am to 10 pm, while adult swim programs the rest.

Considering Nielsen now counts the two networks as seperate, the completely different audience focus, and the lack of shows on either network that could run-I don't think we'll see any crossover.

If I had to name a few that were possibilities, "the popeye show" and "the bob clampett show" are probably the only shows that have aired on both. Inuyasha and the tamer dub of shin chan probably could (with a little censorship).

Yeah, I know that there been this talk about how Inuyasha was Toonami bound, but because of certain scene in the first episode (the scene keeps changing whenever it's brought up so I don't know which one), it was decided to go to [adult swim]. Inuyasha is more of a shonen series so it does belong on Toonami. Infact I think if it was on Toonami, it wouldn't be reruned into our heads so much.

I always thought that with Case Closed/Detective Conan could have worked on the regular CN block rather than [as], since some cases felt a little tame, and I think it was some death scenes that gave it a spot on [as].
