Showblockers!

Kinda. From what I gather, we're talking about characters so annoying, they drag down the rest of the show.

So, let's see... Ray-Ray from The Life and Times of Juniper Lee. Constantly screaming at the top of his lungs, always getting in the way, stealing airtime from more interesting characters... this guy's pretty much a how-to of how NOT to write a character.

The title characters from Fanboy and Chum-Chum. The show MIGHT have been good, but one protagonist is yet another in the long line of "screaming idiot" archtypes, and the other just seems to exist tp repeat what the other guy says in a slightly different way.

Mr. Krabs is turning into one lately as well. His entire personality has been Flanderized down to "I like money!"

Mr. Satan (Hercule) from DBZ was this for me.

I know some people thought he was a great comic relief and I do admit he had 1 or 2 good moments, but most the time he's in the episode I cringe and just don't want to watch the episode till he's done.

When he took credit for killing Cell, that was PARTICULARLY bad for me >.>

Personally, while I do enjoy the Pok?mon anime, there is one Pok?mon in the entire cast that kind of ruins my enjoyment, and that Ash's Gliscor. Some considering his form of slapstick humor funny, but I thought Corphish did that better last generation, or at least as far as Ash's team is concerned. That and it's win before it left to train with McCann at the time felt very DEM, even by Pok?mon standards.

No, if I understand it correctly it's more nuanced. Scrappy was a constant irritating presence who didn't slow down the show and in fact drove all the action. To be a showblocker you'd have not be on the screen all the time and to derail the fun of the show when you made your intermittent appearances..

Thanks for clearing that up. I was going to mention Johnny Test from the series of the same name, but although Johnny is irritating as heck and is the worst part of his own show, he can't be a showblocker, since he's the title character and is a constant presence on his series.

The Greaser Dogs from CatDog.

Pretty much the stereotypical "bully" character that has been done to death, and only existed to torture whomever the main character was (a few people have mentioned this already, only from different shows). All I can do is cringe whenever they show up, because it's the same old song and dance every time; they come in, beat the snot of CatDog, and leave. It's so cliche.

I really felt the best episodes of this show were the ones that the GD's weren't in, or ones where they only played small "bit" roles, and were not the focal point of the entire episode. I personally preferred Rancid Rabbit and even Winslow as antagonists, because at least they were clever about the ways they made CatDog miserable, where as the GD's basically just came around and beat them up every other episode. Granted, not all of their appearances are bad, but most of 'em are.

Also, I'd just like to throw out an honorable mention to Brit and Tiff from My Life as a Teenage Robot. Pretty much the same as above, only they never actually beat Jenny up (because they couldn't; they were just average humans), but it's still the same basic bully formula that's been driven into the ground way too many times already.

The Hip Hippos, Chicken Boo, Mindy & Buttons, Katie Ka-Boom and several other c-list characters on Animaniacs. It honestly bugs me that so many people consider Animaniacs a classic, and they completely gloss over the extremely weak supporting segments on the show. And oddly, those who criticize the show generally seem to only criticize the Warners, Slappy and Pinky & the Brain, interestingly enough.

Sakura from Naruto
To be intended to be one of the show's three main characters, she's about as useless as a screen door on a submarine. AND she's an annoying Mary Sue to boot. You know your bad when Hinata outcools you.

To each his own, My mother adored Chicken Boo and the Goodfeathers, but didn't care for the Warner's themselves. My younger brothers love Mindy & Buttons as well (10 and 9)

The only Animaniacs segments I actively avoided were Rita & Runt, The Flame, and the Hip Hippos. None of them were ever really funny compared to the other segments.

Oh yes, just remember another one. Just about every character from the later seasons of Johnny Bravo. Carl, Pops, and even the characters I did like in the early seasons like Little Susie. They were just annoying and hurt the show more than they helped it. Even Johnny became ridiculous when it seemed like in every episode he just became a bigger idiot. Now, Johnny was never the brightest bulb, but he wasn't a complete moron--just incredibly selfish and self-centered.

Wait, I haven't watched much of the Pokemon anime since Advanced Generation ended (Aside from the movies), but you're telling me that they made one of the most bad*** Pokemon from Diamond and Pearl comic relief? I refuse to believe it.

On topic, I have to agree with Golfkid that Crow nearly ruins Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. Speaking of Yu-Gi-Oh!, I can't stand the English dub version of Judai (Jaden) in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX, he's incredibly annoying. The character was bad enough in the original where he took up way to much of the show and none of the other characters did anything. But, he's a complete moron in the dub.

I'm probably the only person this happened with but I really wanted to get into The Secret Saturdays but the character of Zak always managed to get on my nerves. I couldn't tell if it was his voice, dialogue or what but I just couldn't stand the kid.

To me the X's are annoying. This family is a ripoff of the Incredibles, about a family of spies trying to be normal. After one season the show got canceled. Karen Jane/Agent K is more spy than mother figure, and she's the only one who's competent than her idiot husband.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2k3: The Justice Force got really annoying after awhile and I just couldn't stand them towards the end. I was fine with the Mirage superheros like Nobody and Rapterr the retired Justice Force even Silver Sentry. But when they expanded into a new Justice Force and pretty much took the spotlight from the other supporting cast I got sick of them. I mean Leatherhead and some of the others got left out of the big brawls toward last few seasons but they got all the upfront fights.

Naruto: I would say Sauske but he's more of a scrappy with the way he takes over the show. So I'm going to go ahead and say my second most hated character Sakura. She is so annoying and worthless every scene she is in is I at times just have muteand look away and the whole punching Naruto schtick and being crazy with anger wasn't funny the first time. Yes I know she gets better in the second series but even then you see shades of the past character.

Batman Beyond: Max if there was one character that hurt this show it was her. She damaged three characters she at times took Bruce out of the show due to the fact she become Terry's hacker character. She took Dana's spot as Terry's teen connection. Also hurt Terry ever growning into his own man and a detective in his own right. She didn't completely do all that forever but a good chunk of season two was really hurt by her.

Thats all I can think of at the moment.

Guess I have to be the odd man out and speak in defense of the Johnny Bravo episodes with Carl, Pops etc., because I actually thought they were funny. Yes, they were quite silly, but silly's not necessarily a bad thing in comedy cartoons. And yes, Johnny was exaggerated to a full-blown dufus in those shorts, but I think the show's producers should at least be given a small amount of credit for trying to do something different with JB. Carl and Pops made decent foils for Johnny, plus they gave Johnny other characters to interact with besides just Little Suzy and Bunny (Mama) all the time. And the stories, while silly, were at least a change from the standard Bravo formula; let's face it, Johnny Bravo in its' first incarnation was one-note. The 1st season shorts were either: Johnny tries and fails to get a date, Johnny meets some talking animal or bizarre creature who bedevils him throughout the short or Johnny meets some pop-culture icon (the Scooby gang, Adam West, Donny Osmond, Farrah Fawcet, etc.)
