Show Us Your Music Player

Winamp of course!

screenie

I tried MediaMonkey, but I didn't like it much. What I do like about Winamp is how central the search bar is, a handy thing if you have a lot of music.

I don't actually..I play with the settings on my soundcard. No matter how many updates they have done with the Llama..they can't seem to get the EQ to work that well IMHO. But that's ok...my tunes sound great by turning the whole thing off. :tramp: (uh...the EQ that is!)

Likewise.
I even have a temp folder in my icon dock that holRAB transitory stuff. I won't ever let a single stray anything reside on my desktop ever.
I guess it's kinda OCD or whatever, but I never have to clean up after myself, so it really works out for the better.

Just a place to show us how your music/media player is set up on your comp.

I currently have several set-ups depending on what I am doing with my music. Here are three of them.

I find it a lot quicker than iTunes, especially when a decent sized library is loaded up. Plus it has so many more functions for music geeks and the add-on scripts and skins are great.

This really doesnt have to do with my current music player.... But just a feature I liked about Itunes.

Since I am not using Itunes anymore... Is there something out there that can replace genius? I never really used its playlists in whole but I liked how it gave me ideas what I can put in playlists.

Mean if it was just a website that just pulled out songs that I would like If I liked that song. I know there are sites out there... I dont even have to be able to listen to the songs on the website just a list, would be enough for me.

Just whats some good ones to start with?

Thanks! I'm making little changes to the code almost every day and I think it's really a lot of fun. The next challenge I guess is getting rid of my track info mod panels and exchange them for more WSH panels .. something which is going to require even more coding!

While I like my current theme, I'm still not satisfied so I might start working on something new soon.

That CD Art Display sure looks sweet! I did install CD Art Display some time ago, but decided to uninstall again. The only thing that bothers me is that it's an extra something, another program to run.

I tend to sacrifice design over functionality, so fancyness or boringness isn't so much an issue for me. The nicest thing about my "fancy" foobar is that I get so much more information about the music I listen to than I do with other programs. The ability to write custom tags and use those in scripting is incredibly useful to say the least. It really makes me wonder why it's more or less not an integral part of every music player.

sure, it can do all of that and then some.

with custom title formatting, you can sort your music however you like. i use a heirarchical system - i choose an artist in the top panel, then one of their albums below. but these panels can be set up however you like - years, decades, genres, file types, bitrates - absolutely anything.

or, you can go for a tree view like in Zarko's config. again, you can set up the nodes however you want. it's all based on your tags, so it's incredibly flexible, and it all updates automatically.

you also get lots of flexibility in the main view. look at mine - the "I Be The Prophet EP" is actually by Starving Souls, but since it's just a name that Tricky used for that one EP, i set %album artist% to Tricky. i have foobar set to show %artist% after a song name in brackets, and in lighter text, but only if a %album artist% track is present. so in other worRAB, compliations will show up under regular albums in the tree, sorted by %album artist%, but in the playlist view, i can still see the artist of each track.

to summarize - foobar can do just about anything :D
