Shoutcast Radio

Has anyone had much luck with this so called amazing radio program ? I decided to give it another shot only to be just as annoyed with it as I was the first time. Nothing I select for stations will connect it's annoying. There is one station that connect every time on Virtual Radio but not Shoutcast.

Most of the pre-installed stations have changed their ip address.

You can go to the shoutcast website and then find a station. Download the .pls to the shoutcast folder and then Internet Radio will open it.

Yah, you're supposed to find and configure your own shoutcast stations. There are thousands to choose from on the shoutcast website. (www.shoutcast.com)

Then you're choosing stations that require more bandwidth than what you have. If you do wi-fi, then you can choose just about any bitrate. If you're doing GPRS/EDGE then you should choose a station with less bitrates. If your phone is sharing the same connection as your PC, you could try listening to the station on your PC, maybe you have poor connectivity between your computer and the station.

Maybe but I'm using it in wifi. The thing is I use virtual radio without a hitch. Even when I use the sky channels it never stops playing. The only thing with virtual radio is it's trial and it plays for 20minutes then stops and then u have press back and click on play again for another 20minutes.

I use s60 shoutcast all the time, and rarely does it buffer... i limit myself to 32k stations on EDGE (though I can play 128k most of the time with no problems either, 32k will always avoid skipping), and 128k on WiFi. As an example:

This was streaming over WiFi on my n80... no skips of any kind, streamed for a couple hours straight.

I must say that I would agree with Pepsi... nothing but long waits and frustration. Just does not seem to do anyhthing for me, but I wonder if it's because of where I am ??

Like I said in an earlier post, you could "preview" the channel with your PC. For me, I just go to the shoutcast website, and click on "Tune in" and I could listen to the channel on Winamp. Whichever ones work fine in Winamp work fine on my phone. (E65.)

For some reason I cannot pay the .pls files at all, I saved the .pls file to my shoutcast folder on memory card, then open internet radio, switch to file player, open shoutcast folder in drive E, click on a .pls file and I get this error "Playinit Error =-5" I'm sure that I'm doing something wrong, any help will be gratly appreciated

Same thing here. The only stations that seem to work are the pre-configured ones that are available in the freeware sticky for setting up Internet Radio. All my playlists buffer and then die, if they even go that far. I read in another thread that most, if not all, of the stations are maintained by 3rd parties. Perhaps this has something to do with the stability of some of the channels? Could it even be handset specific? I've given up and decided to just load a seperate minisd card fulll of compressed music from my own collection and mp3's.

Just remove the original pls file, or edit it with a text editor and remove the entries you want to.

There can be multiple .pls files in the shoutcast directory.

the software doesn't support DNS. That means your radio station addresses have to be a IP address.

In other words, you cant have something like http://aol.streamingwhatever.com you gotta find the IP address and put something like http://205.205.205.55

Otherwise, it will always return an error.

Anyone here know if it is in anyway possible to listen to local radio stations such as KTU or Z100 through shoutcast?

http://ktu.com/main.html
http://z100.com

With both you have the ability to listen to their radio through your browser but I don't see any actual links. Thanks
