Shouldn't we stop bailing out GM?

We could be putting this money to scientific research, and education, why don't we stop bailing them out? Please be serious. Best answer gets 10 points.

Because people don't want to face reality. We are stuck in a system that doesn't care about the lower class citizens. You cannot live on minimum wage. So instead of coming up with something better to benefit everyone, those who are in power are trying desperately to grasp onto anything to delay the collapse of an obsolete system.

They need to declare bankruptcy, but the UAW is lobbying hard that they don't. Once the bankruptcy is filed, any and all agreements with the union are subject to renegotiation, up to and including termination.

The GM/UAW model is woefully outdated, as evident by the non-union shops that produce cars. The UAW is an ominous and overbearing entity that believes it has to be present to sustain the American auto market.

Well, it doesn't.

I feel the same as you. But it will never happen, the UAW is to strong and spent to much money to assist in the election of our president. In returns they will get special considerations. It is just to bad, our children will pay for these bail outs for many years or all their life if we do not stop soon.
