Shouldn't we be concerned about the environment?

Mabe its not the top priority right now, but what good would it do for our country to succeed and prosper if the environment is no longer habitable? People say ahhhh... That will never happen. Well, as long as the population of the earth continues to rise and we do not find alternatives for hazardous chemicals and gases, then..... Well lets just say it isn't gonna be like the Garden of Eden.
I'm not a tree hugger. But I do believe in common sense. I don't want to hurt buisnesses. But I do believe we can find ways to help our planet without harming prosperity. As long as our government uses common sense when dealing with the environment, then I'm on their side in that policy. Priorties can be misguided. If people in the U.S. are starving to death, then the last thing I want to worry about is the possibilty of a bug or mouse becoming extinct. We come first! But I do believe animals have the right to exist. Just not more of a right than myself or other human beings.
Why? Well because we live here! What if one day our government fails. And we must live like its the 1800s again. We will have to live off of the land. I would love to be able to hunt an animal and know that I'm eating meat that is not seasoned with mercury wouldn't you?
YES! Liberal ***kicker! You do have a very good point! And China is another country that should be a focus of concern. They should be pressuring these countries to help in their effort.

well i dont own a cell phone or have many modern gadgits in my house, this puter is about as modern as i get. so it would not bother me much, actually i have lived off the land , people did it for hundreds of years, without tv, with out cell phones and did just fine, i dont know about anyone else but the onl y thing i would actually miss is the washing machine, and i dont own a dish washer either i never have. it is possible to power your home with wind power and ride a bike to work, why not i mean i dont own a car now, we had to sell one of ours because we no longer could afford insurance on two vehicles , and we make out ok. we dont take vacations or go to movies either. so personally it would not bother me.

I think we should start a US Environmental World tour, so that we are not the only ones trying to save the planet. See ing how we are the only ones ever to blame for it.
