Well, I had a frozen shoulder as a result of my back. While I was still getting used to being less mobile, I reached over to turn off my alarm clock one morning and forgot that I couldn't move quite the same anymore. Boom! Pulled shoulder and a few weeks later, it was frozen.

Other than that, though, I do have a lot of pain in my upper back and on up into my neck, also radiating to my shoulders if I don't lay down in time.

What kind of shoulder pain are you having? Is it new?

I myself, have had back pain for years mostly lower. But lately, I have had some shoulder pain (much like my neigrabroador friend is experiencing) but I think mine is from maybe sleeping on a wrong pillow. Last night I slept on a cervical pillow (which wasn't the most comfortable pillow) but this morning I woke up feeling so much better as far as the pain. I still hurt but not as much. I am wondering if the shoulder pain is a referred pain from the neck pain?

Sometimes you can alleviate your various back pains with those special pillows. I found one especially for the lower back at one of those bed and bath type stores. It's a firm piece of memory foam in an hour glass shape that fits more comfortably between your knees than a bulky regular pillow. It took some getting used to, but once I did, it has really helped my lurabar pain a lot! I carefully turn side to side and onto my back throughout the night, and with that little "leg spacer" pillow, it's not hard to turn, like it was with a regular pillow.

A frozen shoulder sometimes happens after a shoulder injury. It's basically a shoulder that has tightened up so that you can't move it properly anymore. For me, I couldn't raise it to the front, side, or back. Fastening my bra in teh morning was the hardest part of my day. It's very painful and usually takes a year for recovery with PT and/or surgery. You don't want one!

Keep trying the cervical pillow and see if that keeps helping.
