i had shoulder arthroscopy surgery on 1/2/09. I'm on a sling. On Thursday i was given permission to remove sling to exercise shoulder 2x day, for about two minutes. the dr also said that if i am sitting and awake i can loosen sling. However, since the doctor also explained that the purpose of the sling is to prevent movement of shoulder, i thought that hanging the arm down to breathe was ok. Now after reading info in the internet, i think i was wrong. Also, if i suddenly tried to move arm, but while in a sling, did I do any harm?. I felt some sensation to the shoulder area. Have I messed up the operation & healing process?
