Should Yahoo! Answers be renamed Yahoo! Rant?

Instead of an informative and communal online community, a lot of the time users simply use this site to voice their opinions. Some categories like Business and Finance get one response per day while some moronic "question" in Politics will get thirty responses per hour. What is Yahoo! doing to reverse this? What do you suggest? Also, what other question sites similar in concept to Y!A are there?

Yes and I dont agree with knifeman's opinion at all. Y!A wouldn't be the same if there wasn't a good debate going once in a while.

Aren't you doing exactly the thing you are complaining about? You are using a question space to voice an opinion instead of asking for information. It is a give and take concept: I would tolerate such rant by ignoring or reporting them for the sake of insuring a minimum amount of censorship and control of information.

The best thing you can do is just report and move on. The more people that report violations and rants, the better the site will become.

Thank for the rant.

What is Yahoo doing to reverse it? Well, there's a large gang of people who love hanging out in certain sections and they report pretty much anything they disagree with as a rant. Those questions will get deleted. This sends all our BA percentages up.

My suggestion is to Ignore and Move On - stay out of categories that attract ranters.
