I'll assume you voted no but I voted YES! First of all we should allow any books in school but certain ones shouldn't be on the curriculum. Even if that's what you mean, books with all points of view should be put on. They make you think, which is a good thing. I have only read a few, but I have loved them (Player Piano, Sirens of Titan, and Mother Night) and plan to read more over the summer. People seem to have a thing against thinking in schools, all you need to do is learn to take tests, we rarely actually learn anything.
But anyway... I think all points of view should be represented. I think religious books can be on there and I think anti-religious books should be there. Instead of classifying racists as bigots and ignoring them, why don't we hear from them on why they believe what they do? I've read about how horrible Hitler was but never seen his side of the story. It's important to read contreversial material and to learn from it and develop your thinking skills in school. I say yes we should encourage Kurt Vonnegut's books and if you are talking about not allowing them period in school (as in personal reading or in the school library) than I say that position shouldn't even be considered as there is no reason to censor his books.
