Should they make a cartoon based on the "Pearls Before Swine" comic?

A few months ago, Stephan Pastis, the cartoonist who draws Pearls Before Swine, said he'd been approached about the possibility of creating an animated series based on his strip. I was wondering if anyone here would like to see such a cartoon. Who do you think should be cast to do the voices? Are there any other comic strips you'd like to see made into a cartoon series (Get Fuzzy, Zits, ect.)?

Well, considering that the recent track record for turning comic strips into cartoons hasn't been all that great (Dilbert and Baby Blues weren't exactly screaming successes), maybe he should take it slow.

Admittedly I never saw Baby Blues, but I thought Dilbert was great as a cartoon. It was funny, intelligent, and I think it had appeal. At least, that's my take on it.

Pearls Before Swine has an...interesting style of humor, but I think they could pull of a successful show.

And I thought Baby Blues was pretty funny, myself. Never saw the Dilbert cartoon.

I think Dilbert failed because A) it was on UPN and B) They kept changing the timeslots in it's 2nd season, eventually dumping it on Friday.

I'd love to see a 'Pearls' cartoon, but the only place it would have a chance of succeeding would be Adult Swim.

Yea, an actual show would be kind of a joke with Pearls simplistic looks, we don't need it to be animated South Park style though even if that'd be fitting. I'm not the fan of this comic that I used to be as it was funny about a year ago but eventually it got repetitive to me when the crocs\aliigators praticly invaded the strips and eventuall Stephen kept making jokes that wound up with the characters being mad at him which was funny at first but after the 2 one it got clear to me that Stephans running dry.

It's a very funny strip (one of my favorites along with Frazz and Get Fuzzy),and I think it could work as an animated series....Maybe with two or three shorter segments per episode, rather than one half hour show...

I had a similar thought Luna. It wouldn't work as a full-length show, but two or three short episodes would be effective.

If it ever was made, who would you like as a voice cast? For some strange reason, I think Neil Patrick Harris would make an effective Rat.

Just do it in the vein of Garfield and Friends(the only show I can think of that was based on a comic that actually outshone the original strip), with the same type of biting humor and slapstick, yet it would have to go on AS. That's the only channel that it would really survive on, as the other networks have a tendency to cancel animated shows that don't fit the sitcom family mold.

Okay, I think I have a potential cast list worked out. Let me know what you think:

Rat - Neil Patrick Harris
Pig - Dee Bradley Baker
Goat - Tom Kenny
Zebra - Phil LaMarr
Guard Duck - Clancy Brown
Crocodiles - John DiMaggio (tb4000, it was a great choice.)
Pigita - Tress MacNeille
Farina - Grey DeLilse
