I was not born in US, ( live here now though). I was born in Europe and there in many countries you need to get the name approved by an agency before you can name your kid. If the name is too 'weird' they wont allow it and you need to come up with another one or the child will not have legal ss number, birth certif. etc.
Names not approved would be like boys names for girls and vice versa, place names( citys, countries) oddly made up names or names with a very strange spelling etc.
Do you think they should draw some guide lines here also? ( just so another kid doesnt end up Pilot Inspektor?)
I didnt say that I support it. I was just wondering.
Isabelline. your name would pass, the spelling is not too strange.

I think people have the right to name their child whatever they want and no one should tell them what they can or can't name their child. That is awful.

i think it shudnt be approved only if its a curse of as initials like E.S.P.N.

Do be so judge-able. People can name their kids what they want, those are just celebrities doing it for attention, not only are you giving the attention but you're offending people who have unique names that to you might see as weird. My name is Isabelline, pronounced in a way the agency would not approve, but it was a very name meaning a rich German fabric.

What's the point of this question if you'll just best answer a person who agrees with you :/

Edit: Sorry hun, just that your topic sounds like you're asking why is it not whn it should be.

No way! It's a free country. If you want to name your kid Hitler, it's fine with me. It will give me something to make fun of someday.

no, i think naming your child could be taken as freedom of speech, which is covered my amendment #1. we should be told what we can and can't name out kids, it's expression. but i do think that too many people are going overboard with the creative freedom.

I think they should have some guidlines. Maybe not extremely strict but certainly more than there are.

No, as sad as it is that some parents use names that are ridiculous, I wouldn't want the government intruding upon a private matter like naming one's own child.

I think that would be so dumb if there was a law against giving a name. I mean yeah Pilot Inspektor is weird but he made the baby, he can name it whatever he wants you know? People should be more concerned about bad parenting and education, a name is really not a big deal its how you live up to it.

Yes and No!! I mean I don't think they should be able to tell you that your name is spelled wrong or something but I mean I don't think that people should be able to name their kids names like A** or Dip**** it just really depends!!
Hope this helps:D

Unfortunately, I don't think they're allowed to.
As far as us being a free country is, they can't change that unless they change the entire bill of rights and such. Which just can't be done.

I feel horrible for all of the kids with those names, but we have the freedom of choice, and to change that, there would have to be a huge revisal of the entire thing, which doesn't seem very likely.

So, we're stuck...it's sad, but it's true.

I hope this actually made sense, haha, I kind of tend to just go off rambling and ending up saying things that are pretty confusing.

No. Maybe a law saying you cant name your kid a swear word.. like A***hole or something =|

No. Who draws the line in the sand? Of course, I don't agree with Pilot Inspektor, but (Actually, Pilot isnt too bad.) But who decides whats bad and whats not? No. We have too many rules as it is.
