Should they do a "DB Kai" to every other shonen anime with a lot of filler?

It's not shonen, but Sailor Moon would probably benefit tremendously from it. There is way too much filler on that show.

I don't think that other shonen series should get the Kai treatment. As others have mentioned, it's easier to just skip the fillers that you don't like instead of getting a new shorter series made. I would prefer it if they just remade the series to be closer to the manga, such as the case with FMA:Brotherhood, or just a new series altogether. I've only heard of the fillers from the more well known shonen series like Bleach, both Naruto series and One Piece, but I'm not sure how well it would benefit each series if they got rid of all of the fillers. It just feels like an easier choice to just skip any filler episodes/arc than to make a new series without them to me.

While I definately agree with skipping fillers because I do that, but the problem with that is if you're anything like me, who stay away from a series too long (which seems to be the case with these long running series as of late) I tend to lose interest in that series, and it makes me not even want to bother getting back into it. But then again, I get like that with anything I take a long break from.

That works unless it's one where the filler is mixed with cannon and just dragged out, like in One Piece, or Naruto Shippuden's first arcs.

Its impossible to skip filler when its there. Knowingly skipping eps on DVRAB creates an awkward feeling in your mind.

I don't think people like to skip eps on DVRAB, even if they're filler.

I... don't really have a problem doing that actually.

And I don't forsee myself buying Season 2 Seventh Voyage of One Piece. That much money for 13 episodes of filler? No thanks.

The great thing about having it on DVD is you can watch it whenever you want. You don't have to view it once a day, you can watch a batch in a day, watch out of order, skipping around to favorite episodes, or whatever you choose to do.

I've had no problem skipping filler in reruns, on DVD or on streaming sites.

While I do plan to buy that so my collection feels complete, I'm just going to hold off on buying it until it's on a major sale. I think when I get caught up with where I'm at, I bought Fourth Voyage, and I get Sixth Voyage, I'll just skip to Skypiea for the time being.

I'd really like to see a much more faithful animated version of the One Piece manga and apparently the series animation director Eisaku Inoue would too.

Watching a random ep is fine, but when you sit down to do a complete rewatch of a show in consecutive order, its hard to skip eps on DVRAB, even if you know you hated the episode.

I simply cannot do it. If I am to watch through a show again, I HAVE to watch every episode in order. If I skip an episode, it just feels wrong or something.

With DB Kai for example, those fillers are already gone, so you wouldn't be skipping anything on the DVRAB, thus feeling like you're not missing anything, even if you know what was cut out.

If an animation company wants to keep something faithful to the manga, how come they don't wait until the manga has ended or nearing to the end?
...Something tells me there's an answer for this, and I think I already know what it is...

Some titles even when ending retain popularity, but some might fall out of the public eye when the final story is published, and thus might not be as marketable I guess.
