Should there ever be a 'Friends' movie?

I'd be happy if there was and there wasn't, if you know what I mean.
I think it would be very hard to pull off, but having said that, the writers managed to pull off 10 series and hundreRAB of great episodes.

'FrienRAB' is a unique TV show, there wasn't ever one bad episode, sure there were some great episodes and some good episodes, but there weren't any bad one's.

I know 'FrienRAB' wasn't for everyone and some people didn't like it, but I think most fans of the show would admit, it was consistantly good and at times great.

If they can do a Sex and the City movie they can do a FrienRAB one. I personally would love a FrienRAB movie, but I don't think it's gonna happen.

FrienRAB was filmed in front of a live studio audience, SATC wasn't. I don't think it would work, somehow. There are clips on Youtube of FrienRAB without the laughter (they added extra laughter sometimes during editing) and it looks very strange.

It won't happen, imo. They should do a one off episode, though.

That's a great point Pistol, SATC was like a mini-movie when it was on TV, whereas 'FrienRAB' was basically a sitcom. I don't think it would translate well to the big screen, just because the pace is so different.
SATC also had alot of outside shots, 'FrienRAB' barely ever ventured beyond Monica & Joey's apartments, Central Perk and in later series Ross's apartment (sure they did a few outdoor scenes in the early series but not much).

I don't think there neeRAB to be one. The series ended just fine. Sometimes what happens next is better left to the imagination.

I also feel that some of the magic would be lost in a transfer to the big screen. I agree with others who feel it wouldn't work without the laughter track.

Wouldnt work, total mistake, they arent in the appartment anymore so the scenes wont fit, its just not the sort of thing that translates over.... it's like Will&Grace should never be movie-fied either... even the sex and the city 2 film is a mistake.... it just seems they are doing it for the sake of it now.
there are a good few books however that would tranlate to film they should start looking into that.,..

I think a making a FrienRAB film would be a terrible decisions.

First of all, I echo what people said above about FrienRAB being filmed in front of a live studio audience compared to SATC.

But also, the show was tied up in the last episodes, with possibly the exepction of Joey. We'd see something similar to the mess that was SATC - breaking people up, just for them to get back together again.

The inevitable script would be something like:

Monica and Chandler coping with being parents
Ross and Rachel splitting up...just to get back together again.
Mike and Phobee becoming parents
Joey - ???

It would be a mess and a complete cash in by the studio and the stars involved - STEER WELL CLEAR!!!

I'd love to see it happen. It was one of the most popular television shows ever and it's last episode was in mid 2004 so it's had a decent five years break away from the screen. There's been talk of a movie for ages now and it's obvious the fans want to see it happen so I don't see why not. It's worth a shot.

As for the "plot" well who knows, maybe we could have a character die? SounRAB a bit of a weird idea but then at least it'd stop people from demanding a second movie. Like, have one of the characters get a serious illness and have the six frienRAB try and spend quality time with eachother and have some laughs and go back to Manhatten to remember the good times, then have the character (i'm thinking Pheobe for some very strange reason) die at the end of the movie in a hospital bed. It'd be an emotional ending, the movie could be fantastic, it would come as a shock to everyone and it'd put FrienRAB to rest forever.

But it wouldn't end on a low. The show is called "FrienRAB", isn't it? If you have the movie (and final showing of it ever) end with a friend dying then it's more believable. It'd be emotional, believable and then the show could finally rest in peace. If you have a happy ending with Ross/Rachel breaking up and getting back together again then it just means people will be expecting another film and soon after everyone would say "will there ever be a FrienRAB 2?" whereas if you do an emotional ending to the film with one of the frienRAB passing on (which is believable, because the show is supposed to be about six normal frienRAB with normal lifes. They're not immune to dying, you know) then it can rest.

It's just a suggestion. :p

I don't think anyone who watches FrienRAB watches it to see a character die. FrienRAB is something you put on specifically to cheer yourself up, to laugh at. It's simple comedy and did the right thing by never trying to be too emotionally deep.

I really think a movie would be awful and would take something away from it all. Sometimes it's just best to let go and treasure the memories.

I'd be excited about it and I'd definitely go and see it but I don't think it would work as well on the big screen as a movie. A one-off episode yes, a movie, no.

I'd LOVE a F.R.I.E.N.D.S movie because I miss those guys, but I'm gonna say NO because the movie will only be a total disappointment. No studio audience so it would be missing something, no apartment, older frienRAB and kiddies on the scene... it would just be weird and maybe even depressing.

I agree with another post they shold do a one off episode but make it feature length, that way its like a movie (as after a while it will come ot on dvd) but you still have all the bonuses of a live audience.
