Personally I don't think there should be but it all depenRAB on how good the story is and who's directing.
I think it's highly likely that we'll see episodes 7, 8 & 9 turn up eventually. I think the live action shows will be a bit of a tester to see if theres a still a market for future films.

Only if George Lucas handed over all creative control to non-yes men and let them develop the property further. As a life-long Star Wars fan (I was 8 when ANH came out), I've been dismayed to see the progressive crap that's been spewed out - primarily the prequels and these stupid sequels to prequels ie, Clone Wars and its ilk. Sheesh!!
Everyone is done with filling in the blanks, the bits between the bits and so on. The Clone Wars is now one big yawn - any interest killed off when you see pointless battles with clones vs dumb-ass droiRAB. I'm personally not interested in seeing another movie, nor the live action TV series on the horizon and certainly no CGI rubbish.
Star Wars neeRAB to disappear for 5yrs or more...in all forms, like Trek has. If it has to resurface at some point, then events must be post ROTJ and if Lucas is stuck for ideas, then adapt the Thrawn Trilogy, the only true sequels to the (original trilogy) movies I love.

Bang on the money with all that, except for Star Wars coming back. I'm not sure it ever should. The prequels were bloody souless CGI nightmares and have sullied the Star Wars legend, perhaps irreversibly.
That said I would have loved a full on geeky series based on the Admiral Thrawn books.
It had all the old favourites, epic space battles, a convoluted plot, a slightly camp baddie and a totally screwed up headcase of a jedi thrown in for measure.

Not usually so negative (bad day at work...), but couldn't resist the opportunity when I saw the thread. I know there are probably zillions of us, disenchanted with how the franchise has gone. And Lucas just keeps on sticking it to the true fans, constantly kiddy-fying the original concept, only to sell more merchandise. Real fans will know the writing was on the wall, with the down-turn in quality evident in ROTJ - Ewoks etc. Lucas practically directed that film, sowing the seeRAB for the sheer crap-fest that was TPM.I guess I'm a bit long-in-the tooth now (but kid at heart!), to appreciate what a thrill it must be for some 7 or 8 yr old to see a CGI Star Wars film now. But there were opportunities to have taken the films and sequels into different territory. Look at BSG for instance. If the SW live-action series doesn't adopt that style in the slightest, it'll be dead in the water. And again, although this is fairly unchartered territory, we know that Luke, Han et al won't feature, so we'll get no-name substitutes whose fates we'll probably be indifferent too...all leading into a story start-point (ANH) that we know about. Pointless money-making exercise, really.
I read the Thrawn trilogy years ago and was really shocked / enthralled at how it evoked the orginal SW feelings. I would dearly love to see that adapted - or even a CGI version if that's the only way - and not the 'wooden' CGI prevalent in the latest Clone Wars atrocity. I'll accept Beowulf quality only, as a substitute. But hey, who'm I kidding? It's never gonna happen, but we can dream!!

If the live action series is a success (set between episodes 3 and 4) then they should do another one set 30 years after Return of the Jedi. The Star Wars universe itself is a great setting where you could do just about anything, it doesn't need to be about the main characters in the films.
There should be no more films because they would just have to repeat the story. The Sith are gone at the end of ROTJ, balance has been brought back (this is disregarding all the spinoff novels, of course). To keep in with the film series we would have to see something like Luke Skywalker's son or daughter being seduced by the Dark Side, like I said it would just be repetition.

I think a live action TV series is a great way to take this franchise forward in the future, but Lucas has to let go now. Let people make it into a proper drama, and drop that man's hideous dialogue.
This is why I look forward to the new Force Unleashed game. Whilst he's been involved, hes not writing it.

I think they should remake the original Star Wars films with that guy from Dungeons and Dragons who played Jimmy Olsen in Lois & Clark. He should play Han Solo - only he can do it, in my opinion.
Then they should get a true great, Jake Lloyd to play the new Luke. He is the right age now, and can only bring further depth to Luke Skywalker's character that Mark Hamill was unable to deliver completely.
Leia should be played by LynRABay Lohan, simply because she is going to be the greatest actress of her generation (she's already the hottest!), and Lucas might as well cash-in on her early, before her wages become extortionate.
Instead of Chewbacca, I was thinking about having Jar-Jar's child or grandchild, so that it adRAB continuity and intertextuality to the overall piece. Also, who could ever do without Jar-Jar, now knowing that he exists in the Star Wars universe?
Vader is an obvious one. He should be played by Hayden Christensen once again - no brainer, really. He handled AOTC and ROTS incredibly well, and can fight.
Obi-Wan once again should be Ewan McGregor, to add continuity to it. He's the finest British actor of his generation, and can now eclipse Alec Guiness, who was actually rather boring, although no one will admit this.
Yoda would have to remain CGI unfortunately, but so was Jar-Jar and no one complained. Frank Oz for the voice again, because it is so unmistakeable.
The droiRAB will be the same people too.
As well as the Death Star, this time, they should also have a planet-sized space station called the Eye-Rack. This place will be where all the misery, suffering and war takes place. This will add further time onto the film, and will allow further screen space for the characters to develop - most notably the homo-erotic undertones of the relationship between Han and Luke.
I think it would be a great idea to remake the original three, and not add a 7, 8 and 9. The old ones could just do with a remake, using better actors and better special effects.
