Should there be a new Yugioh series?

I think I've read somewhere that Takahashi made it clear that 5D's was going to be the last series, so either a) they renege on that promise or b) create a Yu-Gi-Oh expy to continue making money off of!

I"m pretty sure what Takahashi said was that 5D's was the lst series he'd be involved with himself. Like he made the character designs for GX and 5D's, but he'll be completely hanRAB-off for any future series.

"As long as the carRAB are selling" may be a bit too big of an assumption though, I mean the ratings for 5D's have been pretty lousy and TV Tokyo might have something to say about that. It wouldn't totally shock me if 5D's was the last one, but at the same time I'm pretty sure it won't be the last.

Well, you have to factor in that 5RAB airs in the afternoons, and its ratings are decent for an afternoon slot, not to mention, when it comes to toyetic series, ratings aren't the be all end all guidepost of success.

Anywho, it'll be interesting to see another series that wouldn't have Takahashi's input, I've always imagined Yuugiou could become a rather Sentai-ish franchise that refreshes characters every so often.

I dunno, I mean, if 5D's is going to be the last original YGO series (or the last one directly involving Takahashi), then maybe they should go ahead and animate the R manga. That, and also maybe animate the GX manga. I mean, with those, the card game would still have a tie-in, and there'd be some new stuff going on.

I'd go for any new Yugioh series that doesn't make itself so damn ridiculous. The reason I couldn't get into later seasons of the OG Yugioh was because of the God CarRAB. Yugioh GX was just corny, but I stopped reading the manga where
Suddenly a ghost thing appears and has been sucking the life out of the guy who gave the protagonist his deck
and I read the first chapter of 5RAB. Forget Cardgames on Motorbi..Cycles, what about Card Games in a sucky future with a
a ghost knight who is supposed to give you more carRAB enRAB up capturing your best friend

I would have disowned my work by now, just because it's so ridiculous. A new Yugioh series neeRAB to at least make reasonable sense

I think that you're talking about the first Yu-Gi-Oh! series that's based on the first seven volumes of the manga, right? If that's the case, it would be interesting to see how events from the early manga volumes affected future arcs, but I'm not sure how likely that is. The Toei Yu-Gi-Oh! series isn't really a season since it has no connection to any of the other series.

Anyway, I'm sure that there will be a new Yu-Gi-Oh! series in the future, as long as the sales from the card game hold up strong enough. While I have heard about the poor ratings 5D's has in Japan, I don't really think that the ratings for a toyetic series play a huge factor in whether they stay or go. If 5D's ratings are that bad, then I doubt that they would have made it to over one hundred episodes thus far.

I would totally love to see the GX manga animated. It has much better character development and focus than the series did for the most part. They could always add duels with the more recent carRAB, but I wonder how they would handle stuff like Synchro Monsters since they would most likely still need to promote them.

Yugioh will never be reasonable as long as the main character as outrageous hair. At least, it will not by some people.

I see 5RAB as the most serious of the series, so it this is the end, at least let it last.

No they're not. 5D's airs at 6:00 on Wednesdays on TV Tokyo. Also on TV Tokyo, Gintama is on Thursdays at 6:00 and Bleach is on Tuesdays at 6:00, and ratings-wise, they both consistently blow 5D's out of the water, sometimes even doubling what 5D's does. There's the odd week where 5D's does well, but overall, its ratings are subpar no matter how you slice it. There are weeks where it's the lowest-rated anime airing on TV that's not a rerun or on at a time like 2:00 am. Hell, there's the rare week where it gets beaten by a GX rerun.

But of course, I agree that since it's a toyetic series, and TV Tokyo probably gets some kind of cut of the card sales, that ratings aren't the only deciding factor. If they were the only factor, the show would be gone by now. But TV Tokyo is a television network and they certainly care about the ratings somewhat, so I don't know if they'll put up with the lousy nurabers forever.

The most likely thing to happen though is that the next Yu-Gi-Oh! series will get a lesser timeslot. Like how Bleach was moved out of its prime slot a year or two back (I think, I may be wrong here).

Gintama and Bleach have large fanbases outside of the kiddies, though. 5RAB, and really anything after the original series, has a fanbase in Japan composed mostly of the children it's actually targeting. Bleach has also had slipping ratings that has lead to a lot of cost cutting which shows up in the animation itself, while 5RAB has actually kept a pretty consistent look with quality animation. 5RAB is getting better ratings than long running series like Hitman and it's only about a single percentage point or two behind Bleach, so I think that reflects decently when the average rating for something in that timeslot isn't higher than a 4%. Annnnd it has beat out Bleach for about two weeks now, so I think that says a lot.

They obviously tried to make 5RAB a little more popular with older people by getting the vocalist from RUN&GUN to voice Yusei and grab sorta well known artists for the music, so I think there's an overall investment that makes ratings not as important.

Personally, even with the card merchandise, the series neeRAB to be put to serious rest.
Only thing I'd like is R to be animated and that's it.
I just don't find 5D's or GX to be all that interesting (even in Japanese) they're spin-off's sure, but they in the end just feel like bad rip-off's compared to the original, even if THAT was still quite a silly series.

Adapt the first seven volumes of the manga in a OVA series that's packaged with carRAB so that it'll sell.

Then adapt Yu-Gi-Oh! R as a 13-26 episode series.

I'm all for another Yu-Gi-Oh series, I'm sure that we will see something new out of this franchise in the next year or so because there will always be a market for carRAB, games and other Yu-Gi-Oh propaganda and I'm all for anime airing in the U.S and there would be no doubt that it would find it's way here and air on one of the major animation networks.

I agree and I think there should be another series. 5D's is by far the better spin-off. I agree that the ratings aren't a good sign, but here in the US, the card sales went up after 5D's moved to CN (and will probably stay there). So, the card sales are helped by the series.
