We live in America, a country that is Anglo-Saxon by origin and speaks English as its predominant language. Isn't it bizarre that some people who acquire US citizenship do not have a good understanding of the English language?
And besides, someone who has lived in the US for fifteen years, the amount required to become a citizen should have have developed a solid understanding of English..otherwise, he or she should just go back to where he or she came from
in the past, immigrants were forced to learn english or else they could not do anything in society..today, all these latinos come across the border and make no effort to learn english..my aunt is a physician and she has seen some hispanic patients for 15 years and became citizens and not one of them has made an effort to learn english
my definition of proficiency in english is passing the toefl examination
