Should The Law Be Based On Science Instead Of Politics?

Our laws are based on opinions and politics. I dream of the day that laws are based on science and mathematics.

This whole judge and especially jury system is flawed. The fact that neither party are sure of the verdict is a big RED FLAG. Laws should be based on math and physics and should be a scientific construction.

Therefore, the laws would not depend on personal or political inclination and would be verifiable and proovable in themselves, just like math is.

The whole justice system is based on sophistry, acting, popularity and politics. There is absolutely no sound foundation in our justice system.
 
Actually our laws are based around the idea that all men are created equal and that this is the "land of the free". They are designed around what will allow the most personal freedom to the greatest number of citizens. Have a good day.
 
It is my understanding that our laws in the west are based on the laws of the Bible-specifically the 10 commandments. these are ancient laws that have served man well all these years. It is when the law is "interpreted" by men that we get into trouble.
 
When you say 'Our' country. You never say where your from.

I don't think your right. If a law says, you should be arrested for murder, a woman who was being raped and killed a man in defense does not deserve to be arrested. But, if we go by facts and maths, she does. So, opinions are useful.
 
There are whole areas of the human experience that science cannot cover. Currently we base many cases on scientific forensic evidence. Yet, conclusions can not always be drawn accurately with the data available. People must use their observations as a part of determining the verdict. Think of it as anthropology, rather than just opinion. They do base their opinion on something, even if that data is gathered subconsciously.

In the case of laws there are so many things, for instance that could be outlawed based on scientific studies. That ranges from food to cell phones, divorce to television. The question is, how will these laws benefit our lives and which ones are the most important laws. People need to determine importance and relevance. They cannot be calculated neatly.

I do think that people should be more objective and willing to listen to scientific, mathematical, sociological, and anthropological evidence. But we should not believe that we are even close to knowing all there is to know.
