Should resumes for police departments include military medals and awards?

I am applying for jobs in police departments; with eight years of army experience I have accumulated a hand-full of medals, and awards. Should I include these on a resume, or is that inappropriate or looked down upon?
 
Better to have too much than not enough. I would be proud of those medals. Those are work achievements. Put the on your resume.
