When FDR had it built by the Navy, it was called the U.S.S. Shangri-La. later just "Shangri-La". When Eisenhower was president he renamed it for his goofy grandson. Ike destroyed a lot of history and tradition (and almost caused the Federal Government to collapse) during his administration. Why do we still use his gauche rename of the facility? That is almost as tacky as naming a warship after your still-living father, or LBJ showing us his incision after surgery.
