Should police set up "bait-cars" in the ghetto, but with officers inside?

Police sometimes use "bait cars" to catch car prowlers, but the captured criminals are often only charged with attempted grand larceny or something, and many don't even get jail time - they get probation.

However, what if police fielded some normal-looking but armored cars, sent them to the ghetto, and just had people sit in them looking at their fancy phones and stuff? Once someone attempts a carjacking and produces a firearm, other officers hidden inside the vehicle can open fire via firing ports built into the car's armor.

That eliminates the need for a trial, and the car's recording systems will verify that deadly force was justified.

This seems like a good way to take some violent criminals off the streets once and for all.
