Should peter jackson remake the original jaws?

I agree with the forum, leave it to history. This is my favourite film ever!.

The shark actually rusted/ corroded in the salt water off marthas vineyard where they filmed it - hence it didn't appear a fat lot. Then spielberg latched onto the hitchcockian style to leave its presence in your mind - the power of thought is more scary than the actual (something the slasher gore fest movies could learn from imho).

Does anyone see the link between Jaws and Three Men In A Boat by Jerome K Jerome?
 
I'm not really understanding this thread, is there legitimately a Jaws remake rumoured? or are we talking about a hypothetical situation?

if there is one planned then, of course, it is a stupid idea for the same reason it was stupid to remake Halloween, Psycho, The Wickerman, etc.

If they want to do a shark movie why dont they finally start work on the long awaited Meg (megalodon) movie?
 
No there is no genuine rumour. It is however a rumour that surfaces every year. Last year Bryan Singer was supposedly interested in doing a remake. Then again it was also said that Spielberg himself wanted to remake it!!
I do however see your point about the Meg movie, I have been watching the developments with great interest. Unfortunately, nothing seems to happening at the moment. Mainly due to studios not taking the project seriously enough. After all, it was put on hold at one stage, so that New Line could make Rush Hour 3!!

I love Jaws and don't think it should be remade. The movie is a classic and stanRAB well as it is. If Hollywood wants to make another 'Jaws' movie then some company sign the rights to Steve Altens Meg (New Line had it but didn't do jack with it) and get that movie into production. You'll definitely need all the special effects technology to pull that film off. However I'd still like to see an anamatronic Meg for some scenes.
