Should news media be able to legally misinform/out right lie to the public?

Fox news just won a legal suit on the basis of the first amendment entailing news stations being able to legally out right lie to the public.

Should news stations be able to lie to the general public?

Fox sure thinks so.
I used Fox news specifically because of the lawsuit they were involved in. They argued that first amendment rights allowed them to give direct misinformation as fact.

Every news station lies, only Fox goes to court admitting they do and claiming they have a right to.

I don't either.

However, this also lets many other news organizations off the hook.

Do you want the bad news or the bad news.

The bad news is that your network of choice does it too.
The bad news is, they have been doing it for a long time, and most of the time, you don't even realize it.

That's why being an informed person means getting things from multiple sources, not just one and calling it "the standard".

And what do you mean, "just"? The blog you are pointing to is over 2 months old, and the case was decided 4 months ago.

Since they can lie, does that mean you can to, but it's ok because you are doing because it's ok for them to do it?
