I believe that there is nothing more appropriate to talk about at this time than the elections. The Colonies and the history of the USA have a direct connection to the study of the early days of our country.
I am sorry you felt insulted, and perhaps the teacher didn't use the best teaching methods to discuss the events, but unless you have a good grasp of American History, then you have absolutely no idea how monunental this election season has been and will contiue to be!
She probably didn't need to express her views, unless she was directly asked, but since you are not old enough to vote, and she was not influencing your vote, what she did was not unethical, nor was it insulting.
Are you aware that in the entire history of our country, there has NEVER been an African American rise to the political level that Barrack Obama has attained. It is entirely possible that he might become the next president. He would be the first African American president of the United States of America -- that is a monumental thing to consider. It is also monumental because of Sarah Palin, as the vice president. We have never had a woman vice president, and that too will be a first for our country.
The people who settled in the colonies are the ones who started the government of this country, so what they did directly affects us today.
Get over your anger! This teacher did you a great big favor, by allowing you to discuss the most current news of our day.
