Should Mr Gay UK be broadcast on TV?

Should this annual contest be broadcast as it was once on C5.

Im sure it would pull in a decent number of viewers for a main or niche channel.

It used to be on Channel 5 about 10 years ago with Jane McDonald. Remember it vaguely.

I was about 12 secretly setting the Videoplus to tape it

TV beauty contests are horribly passe, and were when Channel 5 decided to broadcast Mr Gay UK in 1998.

It also has a something of a reputation these days, what with one of the winners charged with rape and another with murder, so I doubt any channels would touch it with a bargepole.

I doubt it will come back to TV. Beauty contests are a bit tacky, aren't they?

A couple of past winners being "difficult" lives really shouldn't have any effect in that, though.
