Should Lucas now do 7,8 & 9

Assume you mean the Timothy Zahn books, the "Heir to the Empire" series. Probably the best of the star wars books, and I agree, easily good enough to be the next trilogy. Shame it'll never happen.

Zahn's books may be good sequels (though I was never a fan myself) but they've been thrown out of continuity now by the prequels, so wouldn't work.

That aside, no, I don't think Lucas should make another trilogy. He has no story for them, so they'd be like PM and AOTC - no good. Or should that be "noooooooo good"? :)

in the film there was the talk about creating a new person or something like that. so thats your new storyline for you.

or the 'real' chosen one will appear (kyle Katan maybe) and luke skywalker will train him up.

or maybe the 60 year old luke leia and han solo idea but leia and han solo's son train with them

No because really the 7 8 & 9 dont involve the characters from 4 5 & 6 that we like

Chewie dies, and Bobba Fett escapes from the Sarlacs pit

cack stories

1 & 2 were awful 3 is really good but will never match 5 and 4 & 6 are still better.

He has already said that he will be doing a TV Spinoff with some of the "non main" characters from the first 2 films

How does Chewie die?

I've got a vague interest in the barmy twists Star Wars literature but, aside from 'Shadows of the Empire', I've never been tempted to actually sit down and read one.

Btw, for many years the franchise was mooted as a 'nine parter'. Seems that during the planning of the prequels, Lucas changed his mind. While I'd agree that there's more story to see after Jedi (Galactic Empires can't simply fall apart with the death of their Emperor), I doubt there's enough story for another trilogy. Lucas argues that it's Anakin's story and that makes sense.

I've only started reading them lately, but I thought
anakin (Han's son) was partly responsible for Chewie's death

Correct me if I'm wrong though. :)

ooooo here we go again!!

the first trilogy was about Luke and his joureny to becoming a Jedi and along the way we heard about his father and that was as far as it went

Then the second lot was all about expanding the story of Lukes family origins.

end off the fact is he has managed to rescue some credibility from episode 3 leave well alone now!

Should Lucas now do 7,8 & 9

Yes originally Star Wars was a three trilogy nine episode saga. Episodes 4, 5 and 6 were supposed to be just the middle trilogy.

It is a shame that Lucas changed his mind but then he is now 62 years old and probably feels he is too old to write another 8 hours worth of script.

That and the fact that Star Wars has earned him so far over

I think we might see new Star Wars films in the future. But it will only be if the TV series are successful and if Lucas' children want to make them/ give permission for them to be made. I think we're talking 20 years at least.

Should 7, 8 & 9 be made? No, absolutely not. Not by Lucas and not by anyone else either. Not because I think they're so precious that no-one else should be allowed to, nor because I think they're so terrible that enough's enough. They're all good films, some better than others, but how many times can the same film be hyped over and over again up to three years in advance? By all means turn it into some sort of generic James Bond type franchise where you have maybe one or two central characters but each film is completely different if you must, but please - no more prequels or sequels to the original three.

If there was originally a nine episode story there must be a basic premise of what happens in 7 to 9.

Personnal I am slightly disappointed that Lucas has chickened out on this.
