Should kids be banned from sport?

Kids should be banned from sport because sport is a dream buster. What I mean by this is that many kids look up to sporting heros, dreaming to be like them one day. But how many do? For every person who walks the path to the big leagues, they do so on the corpses of broken dreams strewn along their path, because not everone can become sporting heros. Is this the kind of life experience we should be giving our children? Its a recipie for failure. Look at those fans at stadiums, aren't they all broken sports people? What about the pathetic sports coaches who are nothing better than sports no hopers, but are too thick to realise it.
 
This is an absolutely ridiculous idea! As other answerers have said, kids need exercise and more than that, they have to learn to compete and learn that certain things in life are NOT given to you on a plate, you have to go out and earn them.
 
I agree with you about the unrealistic expectations that kids may have. These unrealistic expectations can cause disappointment, low self esteem and in severe cases depression. It is okay to have a dream but it must be realistic.

No, kids should not be banned. Kids can play sports for fun, engage in healthy competition, exercise and health purposes, meeting new friends and learning important skills such as team work and leadership. These are the benefits that sports provide.

I would send my kids to learn martial arts (so that they can defend themselves) and swimming (so that cope in emergency situations). I find these two physical activities are more practical and useful in everyday life compared to sports like soccer, rugby and tennis.
 
No they should always be encouraged to play and participate in sport, to have fun and exercise and do their best. We all can't be sports stars and some don't want to be. Having a go, enjoying a game and making friends is GOLD to me!
 
nope. Its good to have a dream.. I love sports but i guess only because i am good at them. awesome softball player. =) Hate soccer though. but cheerleading should be banned from the earth!!! I sware i want to move to austarila america is getting too much!!! =(
