The Russians certainly think so and with good reason. Wikileaks has revealed that the US government and its satellites have been 2-faced regarding their relations with Russia. While they talk about how Russia is a "strategic partner" in public, behind their backs they regard the Russians as enemies and rivals.
Certainly, Assange has done far more to deserve a Nobel Peace Prize than most of the people who have won it. Warmongers like Barack Obama and cynical politicians like Al Gore have won this prize in recent years. Assange is a man of peace and a man who has done much to eliminate the veil of secrecy behind which governments are able to conspire to do evil things (without a veil of secrecy, it is unlikely that the United States would have ever become an Empire, as the USA got dragged into most of its wars by deceit and without secrecy, there probably wouldn't have been a World War I and thus the world would be a freer and more peaceful place today).
Of course, Assange is a hero and a great libertarian. For those reasons, he is ruthlessly attacked by the fascists who pose as "conservative" in the USA and by the soft totalitarians who pose as "liberal" in the USA. Assange has made enemies out of the most evil people on the face of the earth and has outraged those in the USA who have a pathological hatred of peace and freedom, so he is certainly a great man who has done much to make the world a better place. Those who participate in the ongoing "2 minute hate" against Assange deserve the contempt of everybody who desires to live in a free society rather than an Orwellian dystopia.
