should i upgrade from a sidekick 08 to an HCT HD2?

i have a sidekick and im getting tired of it should i get an hd2 or another phone from T-mobile
i have a sidekick and im getting tired of it should i get an hd2 or another phone from T-mobile... and if i do get the hd2 do i need the data plan or can i just get it with the unlimited msg plan
