Should I update my E61 and PC Suite software?

Guys I'm considering upgrading the firmware on my E61 to the newest from Nokia. I am concerned about what will change on it from the 1.0610.04.04 version. Does anybody have any input? I am also considering upgrading my old Nokia PC suite software to the newest version.

I need some in put on this stuff guys.
 
Updating PC Suite itself poses no risk, so I don't see why you wouldn't.

As far as updating your phone's firmware goes, you may run into problems if you don't know what you're doing. I just bricked my N73 when trying to update it because of a stupid error on my part. If you follow the directions properly and it goes through, then there's nothing to lose except any errors the phone had before. Do it.
 
Your not making me feel any better telling me you bricked an N73. I'm too hooked on my E61 to deal with killing it. But I really want to install some VOIP software on it and it needs the newest firmware. I'm still undecided. What did you do wrong by the way?
 
The only doubt to have is in yourself. Nokia's Software Updated is solid, it's almost always the user that causes the problems and bricks a phone, just like my case.

Have faith and you will have your new firmware. There's always iunlock.com if you mess up, but that's a last resort.
 
No, I sent it FedEx 2Day on a Saturday night, so it's supposed to get there on Wednesday. Then, I only paid for FedEx Ground to get it back. I'm thinking sometime next week. I can wait. I have my 6260.
 
I updated my Nokia PC Suite and I thought it was supposed to have a link to do the phone firmware update in the software, I didn't see it.

Should I go to the Nokia USA site and do the update for my E61 that way? Instead of going to Nokia.com.
 
I just realized NokiaUSA.com doesn't have the updater at least that I can see. Maybe I'm missing it. So should I go to Nokia.com? Also will the updater know which areas version to put on my phone? I mean I want to make sure all the buttons still coincide. I don't know what version I have, whether it is APAC, UK, Euro, Spanish, I have no idea.
 
Unfortunately Upgrading PC Suite eliminates the handy wallpaper creation program that came on the E61s version....not that it's that hard to crop something to 320 X 200 it was just nice
 
You don't know the half of it. I basically only use this phone to keep the idea of s60 in my system. I can't really use it for more than calls and text. The body is dinged to hell on it, there are some pieces missing, it's glitchier than ever, and the memory card slot doesn't work. I'll post pictures sometime to show you how bad it really is.

Evan will have my phone tomorrow by 4:30 and hopefully ship it out the following day or so.
