I have a Gary Fisher (trek) mountain bike that is a very nice bike which I paid around 400 something Canadian for. However, I find that it is pretty slow for what I need it for. I want to commute to school which is a 30 km round trip on bike paths that are hard packed gravel as well as partially paved. It is mostly flat too, it used to be train tracks.
Do I have the wrong type of bike for commuting, or do I find it a strenuous ride because I am being lazy? What kind of bike should I ask for when I go bike shopping? (If I have the wrong bike). What will be the bottom end of my price scale for a different bike? Should I trade in my Gary Fisher?
