Should I trade my Bold 9700 for a Milestone??

I got an offer to trade my bold 9700 for a milestone and im very tempted.
Im pretty bored with blackberry, and I loved android when the dream first came out.
The only thing holding me back really is losing bbm. Also im just comfortable with my blackberry. Its simple, I get all my emails etc.
But ever since I made the switch to blackberry i've become a one phone person lol I love the functionality but I am rather bored, and bbm is no reason to stay right?

I hate the camera and the browser and the lack of fun apps as well.

Ughhh I cant decide! what do you guys think?

I have both the Bold 9700 and the Milestone.

The Bold has much better messaging features with BBM and the universal Messages inbox. I prefer the keyboard of the Milestone however due to the larger keys. With the Milestone you only get push with Gmail accounts or mailboxes with Microsoft Exchange server.

The browser on the Milestone is much, much better than the one in the Bold. It really feels like a bigger PC browser most of the time. The camera isn't that much better, despite the megapixel count. I don't know about fun apps because I'm not a very fun guy.

The screen on the Milestone is gorgeous.

To be honest though with as good of a messaging device as the BB 9700 is, I would have kept it over the Milestone if it weren't for the data plan difference (I pay $15/month for the Milestone; I'd have to pay $30/month for the 9700).

Thanks for that! Very helpful!!!

Still havent decided but im leaning towards keeping the berry.

Im also worried i'd have to pay more for the milestone since i only have 500mb data

Yeah Android phones use a lot of data.. I think I suck down more than 50MB in a day.

At the same monthly price I would rather use the 9700 to be honest. The Milestone gets a lot of oohs and ahs but the 9700 is just a serious, no-nonsense phone.

I had been debating to get a 9700. I decided to take the Milestone though because I still own some Blackberry's.

I was worried about losing Blackberry Messenger, but now I just text instead. I don't care anymore. I still have a Blackberry on my personal line but it hasn't even been turned on in 2 or 3 weeks.

If BBM is why you're keeping a BlackBerry, then switch now. Being forced into a device specific communication format is really not cool. Just SMS people instead.

I just switched to Nexus from BB 9700. Functionality with BB is just incredible. Things are done faster as well, but BB is boring. Nexus is a fine piece of hardware, but now I think I should have gotten the milestone. Physical keyboard and ability to see the things on display in a bright light are very good assets of the Milestone .

I'd go with the Milestone.

You've seen the arguments, and I'll agree the screen is great, the browser and camera are much better. But the real reason may be apps. Simply put, BlackBerry App World isn't that good. It has just a few thousand apps, and RIM can't claim quality over quantity, either; Android has more and better.

These days, I wouldn't recommend a BlackBerry unless you need it for work or can settle for a messaging-only plan. The Milestone feels more like the future where the Bold 9700 is in the past.

I sold my 9700 to get the milestone and one thing that bothered me a lot was that milestone was a bit laggy. It runs programs in the background that you don't want even after you closed them. I had downloaded task manager to kill any apps running in the background but it's such annoyance to keep doing that.

Other than that, the advantage of a touch screen is obvious. However, the screen is not as responsive as iphone. But a gorgeous screen. Apps aren't really there but BB is worse LOL.

The widgets are cool touch but after a couple of days you don't even notice it. One thing I liked is that any notification is shown at the top status bar. All you have to do to see them is to slide your finger down and instant access. This is the best thing about android phone, that I found.

It wasn't for me, so I sold it. I'm gonna go back to Nokia.

Ok, so I ended up not trading, and just bought a milestone instead. I really like it!
Soooo much fun compared to the blackberry and I feel almost free... lol

Im just gonna keep both for now, but I think I will be selling the bb soon, thanks everyone!

Congrats. Be sure to update your Milestone to Android 2.1 if it isn't already there; there's a thread on it in the Telus section of HowardForums, but I know you can go to Motorola's support site and grab the (Windows-only) installer to update from your PC. Not sure if an over-the-air update is available yet.

Seems to improve the performance of the phone, and live wallpapers are very distracting. :)
