Should I talk to this guy?

My boyfriend and I just broke up a week ago and I'm devistated. My friends have tried talking to him so that he would go back out with me but he told them he still just wants to be friends with me. He likes this other girl I heard. Should I go and talk to him and tell him I really want to be with him and stuff before another girl gets the chance because I truely loved him with all my heart
