Should I take the AP World History exam this year if I missed it last year?

History is not my best subject. It is actually my absolute worst subject. (Our school is just very small, and the only AP classes are pretty much history and science.)

Last year I was in the hospital for the entire month of May and missed the exam. I would've gotten a 1 on the test had I taken it in the first place. This I know.

I'm wondering whether I should take it this year. It'll be a whole year after the course, I was horrible at the subject anyway, and I'm most likely going to get a really terrible grade.

Do you think, in terms of college and such, that it's a good idea to retake it? Or to just sit with the excuse that I was in the hospital for a month?

Thank you for your time!

If you think you can pass it, take it. If you can't pass it or think you can't pass it, don't take it. It will be a waste of money. When you apply for colleges there is a section in the application where they ask you to explain any special circumstances needed. You should take that opportunity to explain that you were in the hospital and could not take it. Don't try to explain you wanted to take it the following year and blah blah. They won't count it against you.
