should i take gcse astronomy?

If astronomy interests you, then you absolutely should. There may well be fairly complicated maths involved, but if a career in Physics is what you are after, then go for it.

im considering taking it as an extra GCSE, my school offers to do it after school and sometimes on weekends, is it difficult? is it worth it?

I do not know what gcse astronomy is but Astronomy is my favorite science. I would take any course in that field because it is the leading edge to solve our origins.
