I have done medical billing for 5 years now, and really like it. However, I do everything from experience - I was trained into the job. I was wondering if it would be beneficial to take some classes on coding so that I understand that aspect better? The doctor's in our office code our claims, so I never have to do more than add modifiers, etc for the claim to process. Not choose ICD-9, or CPT. How do I decide if this is a worthwhile undertaking? I still think I will stick with billing rather than coding, but am itching to learn more about what I do everyday (gain more understanding).
