Should I take a year off before university? I'm worried about my well-being?

I'm going to Commerce at one of the best universities. However, I feel like this would be stressful. My health has been poor this year. I've already been suffering from chronic pain which has been exacerbated from the stresses of high school. I'm really burnt out, both physically and mentally. The chronic pain has really made me depressed and prevented me from doing a lot of activities.

With a year off, my main priority would be to improve my health. I would also explore my interests in music, acting, and writing, all of which I am quite passionate about. For example, I'll finish my novel and publish it (I know that sounds cliche but I've been informed that there is a fairly realistic chance of this happening). I would enroll in some courses that I'm interested in high school, and try to win some business competitions.

The problem with this is that I have already taken a victory lap! I would be in my sixth year of high school. I would have no academic motivation to work since my grades are quite high and I've already been accepted, in fact I even have a decent scholarship.

So I'm in a dilemna. I feel that health should be a top priority, and I feel the stresses of Commerce at the university level could not be good for my poor health. At the same time, I don't want my brain to fall out of the loop either; I have a fairly sharp business mind and I want to keep it. What's your experience? Did extreme amounts of stress worsen your health...did a gap year fuzz out your brain?
